I know I usually only post once a day,but please indulge me.Amid all the hoopla of the recall Tuesday,Nancy Reagan laid a bouquet of white roses at the grave of her beloved Ronnie.
How I long for the days when we could point with pride to the People’s House and say: OUR president lives there.Reagan came from a time when you could look a man in the eye and get the measure of him.His word was his bond. That’s the way he grew up in Dixon,Ill.Always cheerful, exhorting everyone to appreciate how great this wonderful country was and encouraged us to be the best we could be.You felt there was nothing you couldn’t do if you put your mind to it.Nations who would do us harm never mistook his positive attitude for weakness. He would only be pushed as far as the wind at his back and would readily call down the thunder to those who would harm the American people who he viewed as friends and neighbors.
His devoted Nancy, always beautiful and the epitome of grace, was content to stand in the shadows and let her beloved Ronnie have the spotlight. When he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s,he quietly accepted his fate and was content to live out the time he had left on his ranch with his horses and the woman who never left his side. His passing left a void that may never be filled because they don’t make them like him anymore.
Nancy Reagan placed a bouquet of white roses on the gravesite of her late husband Ronald Reagan Tuesday to mark the eighth anniversary of the passing of one of America’s most beloved presidents.
Appearing frail in a red coat, the former first lady then sat by the 40th president’s gravesite at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif.
Now 90, Nancy Reagan recently suffered broken ribs in a fall, and was reported to be recovering slowly.
The widow of President Reagan also made news recently by announcing her endorsement of GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney.
Having served lemonade and cookies to Mitt Romney and his wife, Ann, at her Los Angeles home, she said that she is firmly behind the former Massachusetts governor.
She said that Romney has the experience and leadership skills that, in her words, “our country so desperately needs.”
Reagan added that her “Ronnie” would have liked Romney’s business background and what she calls his “strong principles.”
