Sometimes, the way the Left talks about them, you’d have to conclude they’re all suicidal, PTSD basket cases bitterly clinging to their guns as they entertain psychotic visions of mass murder.
Remember how Obama’s Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, put them on her Official List of Potential Domestic Terrorists … along with us buggy eyed Pro-Lifers?
Soooooooooo not what real vets are like! (Or Pro-Lifers!)
Yes, some of them have real problems. I’m not discounting their needs in ANY way. How could I, when it’s hit so close to home? My kids have lost comrades to suicide, including one of the young men who attended their high school.
But the majority of them do better than their counterparts in the general population. Studies of Vietnam vets has shown the media stereotype is totally WRONG. On average, they have been more stable and successful in life than their peers who never went to war.
Some years ago, the MSM did an alarmist thing about the crime rate among returning vets. They conveniently forgot to mention that the crime rate was LOWER for vets than for non-vets of the same age and gender groups.
Of course, the media was a lot more interested in dead vets and screwed up vets back during the Bush years. NOW, they don’t want to risk reminding their Leftist base that the Big Oh is actually still sending troops into war zones.
Not that real Leftists give a crap about anyone who would voluntarily don a uniform that features the United States Flag, but some of them do give more than lip service to pacifism, even when a Democrat is in office.
Anyway … ranting aside. I really just wanted to post this fun little video featuring an Iraq War vet and his wife who are good friends of our family. It was shot with two Nikon D300 cameras set up on interval timing.

I wanted to write, “So glad mine hasn’t lost it…yet!” Then I thought that would probably be offensive to anyone who knows someone with combat-related mental issues. Please just know that I mean it in the snarkiest, most light-hearted way possible!

I get you, dear one. Has yours left yet? We’re eagerly awaiting upcoming leave weeks, not that we’ll see them, but I’ll just be happy knowing they’re feet dry on U.S. soil and TOGETHER for a while. They’ve planned one week of visiting and fun out where the mascots live! (Color me green!) Then a full week vegging on their own couch. We’ll get to see them when their tours are done.

Thanks for this, Chrissy. As the daughter, wife, sister, and mother-in-law of veterans, I bristle when vets are maligned — and the lamestream media’s attempts to portray them all as a bunch of whacked-out dangerous sociopaths really makes me sick. It’s nice to hear someone set the record straight.

Soldier deaths during training prompt military probe into supplement use
… The Department of Defense has assembled a number of reports of other adverse effects among potential and known DMAA users, including kidney and liver failure, seizures, loss of consciousness, heat injury and muscle breakdown, and a rapid heartbeat, according to a spokesman.
While the FDA considers DMAA to be a safe food additive, its Canadian counterpart, Health Canada, has reclassified it as a drug that requires authorization to be sold legally.
