I was such a wimp. I stuck Eddie Kalaf with a pin in 5th grade and was so mortified about being singled out for punishment that I never stepped a toe out of line again.
In college, I really went wild, got drunk one night in freshman year and ran a race in the snow with an abandoned shopping cart. The hangover was unpleasant and I was embarrassed about shouting in the streets when the neighbors were sleeping, so I didn’t do that again.
Wow. I could run for office! Except … the whole reason I was so “good” is that I’m a wimp. I hate confrontation and am demolished by criticism. Maybe some bad behavior in the past is something we should look for in a politician who has to beat the dirty Chicago thugs, KWIM?

Excellent point, Chrissy. Whenever I stepped out of line (which wasn’t very often, as I’m risk-averse by nature) I ALWAYS got caught, and being punished and humiliated was so traumatic for me that it kept me on the straight and narrow for a long, long time. In other words, I’m much too thin-skinned for the rough-and-tumble of politics — I wouldn’t last ten minutes once the leftist attacks began. That’s one reason I am in awe of strong women like Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachman, Jan Brewer, and Ann Romney.

Michelle Malkin blows me away too. I watched her once on I think maybe The View (youtube, I do NOT watch The View gag me). She was seated in the middle and was being verbally attacked LITERALLY from both sides. I could not believe how she kept her cool, sat up straight and tall and responded cooly with facts. My esteem for her shot through the roof that day.

You only used a pin? Hell I chased the boys around the neighborhood with my brothers BB gun, shooting them in the butt because they would not let me play baseball with them. And I pretended I needed help catching a frog in a pond in the woods, just so I could get close to a jerk named Mark who had called me four eyes. I pushed him in the pond when he squatted down on the log. LOL. Then I ran like hell. He never caught me. HA! And the boys let me play baseball from then on. I guess I am not first lady material.
Sigh.
