Both sides are declaring victory and are complaining at the same time.The Supremes struck down three parts of SB1070 but left in place the ability to check the immigration status of people pulled over for another reason.This is the so-called ‘papers,please’ provision.Big Sis has already announced the feds will not co-operate with Arizona officials,so after illegals are arrested,what do they do with them?As Justice Scalia wrote in his scathing dissent,when the executive ignores federal law,how can you call any state sovereign when they are not permitted to enforce the law?
The provision that was upheld was on an 8-0 vote.The others were turned down 5-3 with Kagan recusing herself.my question is,how did they flip Justice Roberts?does he enjoy the DC cocktail circuit that much?Kagan did not recuse nerself on the Obamacare decision,and now I’m feeling a little uneasy about how Roberts voted.We’ll all know Thursday.

I admit I haven’t read the actual ruling, but, at first glance, it sounds like they made the correct call on this one, constituionality-wise. However, the behavior of the fed’l gov’t in response to this is just ridiculous and childish. I mean, really?? You’re so mad you didn’t get your way that you’re no longer going to enforce your OWN laws/policies? I guess I’m not really that surprised, though, because I don’t think they had any intention of enforcing their laws to begin with.
The one good thing that will come of this is that they have been forced to show their hand. There can no longer be any doubt as to how they feel about immigration and dealing with illegals in this country. This will be a big election issue come November and is not going to help them. I hope that Romney’s people are working on some good attacks to keep in their back pocket and release when the time is right.

I should have added that the ruling reinforces the point that immigration enforcement is the fed’l gov’ts responsibility. If the law had stood in its entirety, the onus could have shifted, in some people’s minds, from the feds to the states, thereby lessening the impact on their decision of who to elect to federal office.

The problem is, the current regime does not see American sovereignty or national security as important. They do not see the Supreme Court as relevant. They do not see US law as something that should be upheld. All they see is poor people who they can talk into becoming lifelong dummocrats.

This didn’t get much attention in the MSM,but this has the libs howling.The court threw out the suit by Montana,who along with 22 other states and DC were suing to get the Citizens United decision overturned.Unfortunately for them,they can’t recall members of the Supreme Court the way they tried to do to Scott Walker.SCOTUS declared citizens was settled and would not void it.Free speech is alive and well.ESAD,liberals!

Uh, Rubio IS NOT a natural born citizen. To be a natural born citizen, a birthright citizen, one must be born to two citizen parents. Rubio’s parent’s were not citizens at the time of his birth. One’s parents can be immigrants and not born here BUT THEY MUST BE CITIZENS when one is born in order for one to be natural born. Spread the word because if Rubio is vp the election will go to Obama because MANY Republicans draw the line on “anyone but Obama” when it comes to having to vote for an ineligible candidate. Most Republicans are principled and will not vote for party-sake if it means going against the Constitution. So, if Rubio, it is bye-bye Mitt and Hello Obama. Thousands of people have contacted Rubio and Mitt about everything NBC. They both know and it would have to be wondered as to why they would do that, making them no better than Obama. Now, technically, he could be voted in as vp but it would violate the constitution for him to be president should Romney not be able to finish the term.
