Happy Valentine’s day to all.Sadly,after nearly 20 years of marriage,DW has left me.She’s going to stay with her dad.
She’s threatened to come back Saturday.Dammit.
What is it about women that once they become a mother they never lose the instinct?Before she left,she emptied the dishwasher so she wouldn’t come home to a sinkful of dishes.She put enough TV dinnners,pot pies,soup,canned pasta,leftover barbeque beef and tuna casserole in the fridge to last two weeks.She also leaves post-it notes around like:put socks in laundry basket,set the alarm clock,lock the door,etc.I swear she must not think I managed before I met her.I don’t complain,though.I’m too afraid of making her mad.People think I’m kidding when I tell them I’d rather shave a bobcat’s ass in a phone booth than to make her angry.I’m not.

Oh my.
We were at the beach one day, very few people there that day. Mostly, folks got out of their cars, walked to the end of the boardwalk, look at “The View” then went back to their cars. (There were are? a lot of stops like this all along the coast of Cape Cod.
As the sun lowered, a group actually stepped off the boardwalk into the sand. Dearest and I were so impressed. Getting SAND on their feet. Such dedicated touristies. They walked down a ways, then two of them turned to face the rest and a guy with a black book married them as the sun was just blazing to sunset.
It was very cool. And yes, I applauded. I think the bride got a kick out og that.

That pampered brat wouldn’t make it to the bus. My dd had to have her hair returned to its natural color before they let her enlist. All she had was a few blonde streaks in her brown hair. Really … McCain’s hair is natural? ::snort::
As for after the bus, they aren’t allowed to wear makeup either. Or bring their phones in to text and take pics of themselves. The push-up bra thing is a no-go too. They wear “squash em so they don’t jiggle” bras. Let’s see, what else. Oh … that whole Oath to protect and defend the Constitution thing … she’d choke and die, I’m thinking.
John McCain has my admiration for his loyalty to his men, his service to his country and his fortitude under extended torture. But he is not a Senator or a father that I can admire. My O-loving niece complained in 2008 that I was campaigning against Obama when I should be campaigning for McCain. She was right. It was definitely the lesser of two weevils for me. Mostly, I voted for Sarah.

Pete- your DW sounds a lot like my DH (the cooking part, at least; cleaning, notsomuch). I can (and do) find ways to screw up/burn/undercook the easiest meals, so whenever he goes out of town, he stocks the fridge and pantry with idiot-proof food for me. It’s nice to have time to ourselves every now and then, but I always miss his delicious dinners. Have fun playing bachelor!

Oh, Violet, you lucky lady you! I married a guy who can’t cook to save his life, so I do all the cooking around here. I didn’t do any this last week, however, because hubby was in the hospital being treated for severe atrial fibrillation. The teenager and I were home alone, and she eats like a bird, so there was no point in making meals — I just got by on yogurt and fruit and oatmeal and an occasional sandwich. Hubby came home yesterday, eager for some home cooking after a week of hospital food, and I had to stop and think for a while to see if I remembered how!

Dearest and I watched October Baby for Valentine’s Day. WOW! It’s so good. And our favorite part was after the credits were rolling. Definitely get the DVD and watch it to the end of the end.
