Color me red as a cardinal’s cassock with indignation!
The UK Telegraph reports:
The National Security Agency monitored telephone calls and emails of many bishops and cardinals at the Vatican in the lead-up to the secret conclave at which Pope Francis was elected.
The information gleaned was then reportedly divided into four categories — “leadership intentions”, “threats to financial system”, “foreign policy objectives” and “human rights”.
Wasn’t NSA spying supposed to be about preventing terrorist attacks before they happened? What’s next … tiny microphones inside Catholic confessionals?
I’m so angry I can barely speak.
