High Point and Grand Rapids, Mich. used to make most all of the furniture sold in the US – and most of it was good. I don’t know about Grand Rapids, but a lot of those manufacturers in High Point are closing down, which has caused the closing of the nicest furniture stores here in Richmond. The stores closed because they could not get the really good merchandise anymore, and they didn’t want to sell crap after decades of selling quality.
My grandparents owned a furniture store in Richmond, but they sold it shortly after I was born. My aunt said she would spend a lot of time there in the summers and she loved to play the numbers with the black guys who worked there. Her parents never knew about that!

Just for the record … I read the Cuomo transcript before I blogged about it and I understood what he specifically said.
I thought it sounded like the flip side of the record Obama played back when he took office and told Republicans to “not talk” now that Democrats were in the driver’s seat.
They’re so FOS with their “wah wah Republicans won’t be bipartisan” when it is THEY who issue these “shut up” statements.
