Pi Day: An annual American celebration commemorating the mathematical constant π (pi). Pi Day is observed on March 14, because it is 3/14 in the U.S. month/day date format.
And Pi says, “Well. Every time I ask her to do something, she ALWAYS has the same response! ‘WHAT?…FOUR?!?’ She never listens to me!”
(Thanks for ZMalfoy for explaining the joke on the wall: Hugh Jripov. . . Huge Rip off. I didn’t get it.)

I remember fondly spending hours in Granny’s kitchen watching her roll out her pie dough and fill it with cherries and apples from our orchard,strawberry-rhubarb,and chocolate, lemon and banana cream pies with meringue made from egg whites she’d whip up in the only convenience she had,a Sunbeam Mixmaster. She’d spread the meringue on top and swirl it into peaks and when it came out of the oven the peaks were all a golden brown.
Those are memories I’ll take with me to the grave and be glad I have them. They were simple, happy times.

You’re making me sooooooo hungry!
Also reminding me of a Garrison Keillor story I loved about his dear older female pie baking relation.
She was making his favorite, lemon meringue, and he begged her for a slice while it was still warm, because that was when it tasted best.
She said he had to wait until after dinner.
He said, “What if the Lord raptures us before dinner?”
….
“I got my pie.”

My mother-in-law makes wonderful old-fashioned pies like your Granny, Pete. I didnt even like pie all that much until I met my husband’s mom. Your description of Granny’s lemon meringue sounds just like my MIL’s. There is nothing like real, fluffy meringue, lightly browned at the peaks, is there? Yummmmm. My MIL also makes my all-time favorite: sour cream raisin pie! It’s rich and velvety, and topped with that gorgeous meringue. Amazing.

Really liked that singing Pi video.
A bit late to Pi day, but I bring video c/o the stinky locker room known as Ace of Spades. At least, I think that’s where I found this.
Always wondered how something so intrinsic to reality as Pi could be just a number. Turns out, Pi r music.
