Dearest and I had mouth-watering gourmet take-out last night and our youngest is coming tomorrow with her own traditional Thanksgiving meal. She loves to cook, we can’t use the oven (my fault … allergies), so she decided to cook for us at her house and zip on down for some rare “only child” time while her hubby goes hunting with his dad. Works for me!
Today, we got our kitchen goodies and local waterfalls calendars ready to mail. It’s so handy that the calendars fit precisely on top of the 9 jars! Dearest’s Rotary Club sells them every year as a fund-raiser and the girls like to have their reminders of home on their walls all year.

Happy Thanksgiving! We used to have around 17 people over for Thanksgiving dinner. Most have moved out of state (far enough to have it matter). Others have new family obligations with in-laws. Today we were grateful to have our daughter and her husband for lunch. It may be a chore but enjoy the crowd while you can.

I lucked out this year. Our son’s girlfriend — who not only loves to cook (she runs a restaurant in town) but is probably one of the best cooks in the state of Wisconsin — invited us to dinner at her house. It was wonderful.
Right now I’m waiting to find out who will be here at Christmas. Our eldest daughter (in Chicago) and youngest daughter (in Pittsburgh) should be coming home then, if we’re lucky. I’m praying that our grandchild, who isn’t officially due until January 10, will decide to come just a little bit early, so that his/her aunties will be here when he/she arrives. About December 31 would be ideal. 🙂
