Rep. Gutiérrez Presses NBC, Comcast To Stop Donald Trump From Hosting SNL
THE LIBERALS ARE SQUEALING THAT THIS WOULD BE POLITICAL ADVERTISING,SINCE HE’S HOSTING THE WHOLE SHOW.
According to Rep. Luis Gutiérrez (D-IL), allowing Trump — who has come under fire for his comments about illegal immigrants — to host SNL is a step too far.
“It is a level of endorsement that says to America that every hateful and racist thing Donald Trump has said since the moment he launched his campaign is acceptable and no big deal,” Gutiérrez wrote in a letter Tuesday to Comcast CEO Brian Roberts and NBCUniversal CEO Stephen Burke.

Obama Uses Veto Power For Fifth Time, Vetos Defense Authorization Bill.
THIS BASTARD HAS NEVER HIDDEN HIS CONTEMPT FOR OUR MILITARY
President Obama exercised his veto power Thursday for just the fifth time in his presidency, rejecting a defense authorization bill because of the way it would sidestep budget limitations for the military and because it would restrict the transfer of detainees being held at Guantanamo Bay.
The White House said that the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) would tap an overseas contingency operations account designed for emergencies and war costs and use it as a “slush fund” to avoid budget restrictions. Those restrictions — known as sequestration — would impose offsetting across-the-board cuts if spending passed certain levels.

I’ve mentioned this before on this site — I grew up in Bloomington, IN. Mellencamp called me one day at work looking for a bass player, so a couple guys in my band went over and auditioned for him. Based on their very reliable reports, this is an evil, evil man. Our sound man said he almost got into a fight with the guy.
Here’s a question everyone, at some point in their life, has to face: Are you willing to do WHATEVER it takes to achieve your objective? Mellencamp was, including sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll with whatever girl, boy or goat was in the room at the time.
Thirty years of wanton reprobate hedonism eventually led him to his heart attack at age 42. I guess God and Karma catch up with us all.

Competitor to Offer $1 Pill After Turing Price Hike Outrage
Daraprim is known generically as pyrimethamine. It’s been around since 1953 and has been generic for decades. It’s prescribed for a range of parasitic infections but is especially used by patients infected with HIV who are vulnerable to toxoplasmosis.
Turing bought Daraprim from Impax Laboratories in August for $55 million and raised the price from $13.50 a tablet to $750. It had originally been made and sold by GlaxoSmithKline for about $1 a tablet.
CEO Martin Shkreli (pictured) and his company, Turing Pharmaceuticals, is being investigated by the New York Attorney General’s Office over claims it is ‘unlawfully’ restraining competition by distributing Daraprim through specialty pharmacies to prevent generic manufacturers from making their own versions
“This is not the first time a sole supply generic drug — especially one that has been approved for use as long as Daraprim — has had its price increased suddenly and to a level that may make it unaffordable,” Baum said.

The short answer is that fattening junk food is a lot cheaper than nutritious food. Obesity is far more common among lower-income people, whether or not said people are on food stamps. There are many reasons for this, but I won’t bore you with a long rant on that subject. I will just say that when I started trying to clean up our diet, eliminating foods that are calorie-dense but otherwise devoid of nutrients, and replacing them with nutrient-dense foods, I found I was spending far more for food than I used to. I don’t miss the junk food at all, but if it weren’t for the fact that my husband is employed and making a good income, I would not be able to afford to shop the way I do.
