A lynching took place in Missouri last week. The victims were the University of Missouri president and the chancellor. It was the result of one post-graduate student who decided the people who ran the schol were white offended him.

Yet this explanation collapses under the slightest scrutiny. The idea that Wolfe presided over a racially insensitive educational empire is a sad joke. Over the weekend, 32 African-American members of the University of Missouri-Columbia football team joined a group of students staging a hunger strike to protest purported acts of racism on campus.
The team members vowed to boycott all practices, games, and team activities unless and until university President Tim Wolfe resigns from office.
The protests had begun earlier this month, launched by a grad student named Jonathan Butler who claimed that three acts of racism spurred his campaign.

When the Missouri Tigers announced over the weekend that they would not practice, would not lift weights, would not watch film and will not play a game until Wolfe resigned, this exploded into a hot-button national story. National news organizations flocked to campus and set up shop, with live shots against a backdrop of a protestor tent city next to the school’s iconic columns. Not ideal optics for the school president to contend with.

Missouri President Tim Wolfe Just Plain Wimped Out
But, he’s apparently a heterosexual white male, and that makes him responsible for the acts of other people who are not under his authority, and thus he had to go! Considering that he was unwilling to fight for his position, perhaps he really should have resigned.
Nevertheless, this incident shows just how poorly American colleges are preparing students for the real world. Payton Head, the Student Government president who had been called the horrible “n” word, will eventually be graduated and have to leave Mizzou to begin a career in the business world, and there won’t be any university president to blame when the next red pickup drives past and someone yells offensive stuff to him. He’ll have to just man up and get on with his life. When he finds himself competing with other people to move up the corporate ladder, to get that next promotion, if he is unable to simply disregard insults, if he gets all flustered and upset, he won’t be able to compete to the best of his ability, and he will fall behind.

Despite overwhelming opposition from the American people and lawmakers on Capitol Hill, it is becoming clearer by the day President Obama is planning to close Guantanamo Bay prison with or without the consent of Congress.

A jury convicted Raymond Harris this week of murdering an elderly Chicago area woman. Harris beat former nurse Virginia Perillo to death then stole her wedding rings so he could propose to his girlfriend.
On November 5, the jury convicted Raymond Harris, 40, of killing 73-year-old Virginia Perillo in the garage of her Chicago Bridgeport neighborhood home in October of 2011.
During the trial, it was revealed that one of the reasons for his robbery was to steal the woman’s wedding rings. It was reported that Harris took the rings to his girlfriend and asked her to marry him.

Butler is a member of the ConcernedStudent1950 protest organization, which says it has represented every black student at the university since 1950, when the first black student was admitted. The group released a list of demands Oct. 20 that included Wolfe’s removal, as a part of a protest over the way the university handles racial harassment. Butler’s hunger strike was in support of that protest.
