Ok, forgive me, but my take is a little different. This is one of the most horrible, disastrous Christmas customs on the planet! Icelandic women are among the most beautiful creatures ever conceived by God. They should take their men to bed with some Chocolate on Christmas Eve! No wonder European birthrates are so low. They’re doomed to extinction by stupidity! Or literacy! The books are for later. Harrumph! 😉

But a good book can be an aphrodisiac. And as P. G. Wodehouse noted, there is no surer foundation for a beautiful friendship than a mutual taste in literature. It’s one of the things that made me fall in love with that guy I’ve been married to for the last thirty-eight and a half years. 😉

Hmmmm. You may be onto something there, Bird. I remember a time when Gruntessa and I would both be into the same author, and we’d go to bed both reading different Arthur Conan Doyle stories, or some such. There was also a lot of baby conception going on at the time, so I may have to rethink this…

Perfect!! Our wedding “cake” looked like this … but a lot smaller … and it was made of cookies, not books … and it had a bride and groom on top. But, you know, other than that … total twins. 🙂
