it came to me this morning why Mother’s Day is such a big deal and Father’s Day is kind of….meh.
DW opened her Facebook page and her son had posted a photo taken with her when he was about 4.immediately the tears welled up.As she scrolled, there were more friends and family that had posted pictures with their mom.it came to me that one reason moms are so beloved is that they made a huge deal out of every project you made in school. The turkey when you traced your hand on construction paper then decorated it.The handprint in cement.our children all came by today and gave her a framed picture they had taken together along with some other prints of them with their family.Yup,she started crying for happiness.
Mother’s were the ones who changed your diapers, taught you how to feed yourself and acted as mother confessor, crisis counselor and warden when the need arose. There’s nothing you wouldn’t do for mom.
I remember making granddad a gun rack in wood shop(we learned skills back then).Instead of making a big deal over my efforts he said;’this is stupid. We don’t have any guns.’After that when Father’s Day came around I’d take two bucks out of his wallet and buy him a pack of cigarettes. They weren’t his brand and I smoked half of them on the way home from the store.
Fatherhood today has been perverted by the term”baby daddy”,which is an obscenity to me.Children can be the unfortunate result of a physical exercise, made by someone with testicles who has no desire to support the unfortunate baby. Some women have no business bearing children but no matter how shabbily they treat their kids, they all still love their mamas.
