The Vatican didn’t disavow Pope Francis’ meeting with Kim Davis

It was a handful of pro-gay activists who did that.

The Vatican invited Davis to meet the pope in Washington DC.

Neither Kim Davis nor anyone connected to her requested the meeting.

Kim Davis met privately with the pope.

She was told at that time that the meeting was a secret only until the pope had left the United States.

After the news of the meeting broke, the gay mafia inside and outside the Church went berserk.

In response, Federico Lombardi S.J. issued a highly nuanced statement from the Vatican that was technically accurate, but very misleading.

Then, one or two other pro-gay sources anonymously claimed the pope had been ambushed by Davis’ lawyers and that the Vatican regretted they ever let her near the pope.

Finally, two celebrity priests who actively promote the gay agenda — Thomas Rosica and James Martin — published their politicized and twisted versions of the event.

IMO, the people who dropped the ball were the ones who organized the visit. It should have been obvious to them that they needed to release a factual and carefully worded statement the minute the pope’s plane took off, because of course Davis was going to talk about her visit and of course the left would go berserk.  Duh.

I could wish my church was filled with nothing but very wise and truly holy people, but it hey … Jesus picked Judas to be an apostle, right?

As always, I have to deal with this by praying, piling my disappointment into the Father’s lap, and trusting He is on top of it all as He promised.

UPDATE: The Vatican has clarified that Kim Davis did not have a private audience with Pope Francis, but was part of a group who got to see him and say hello before he left.  As per usual, both sides of the political spectrum are over-politicizing Pope Francis.  It appears that Davis’ lawyer over-stated the specifics, perhaps in a bid to claim the pope for their side.  It also appears that those who think the pope is some kind of Leftie were just “devastated” upon hearing that he met with Davis.  Seriously?  How does meeting someone constitute picking sides?  They all remind me of the Pharisees who got bent out of shape with Jesus for talking to sinners.

  • The Left supports the targeted and aggressive assault on Christian religious rights.
  • The Left also supports the targeted and aggressive demands by Muslims for special treatment.

Gay activism: It’s not about love or equality

It’s about destroying religious freedoms for Christians.

The Left doesn’t want to accommodate Christians. They want us and our values and beliefs forced out.

Gay activists have targeted Kim Davis. The media calls her a bigot. But the whole story shows she has tried to avoid this situation from the start.

Kim Davis’ attorney, Liberty Counsel’s Mat Staver, has asked the courts and Gov. Steve Beshear to change licensing procedures to accommodate Davis’ convictions and those of others with similar beliefs.

Staver suggested several options, including removing the clerk’s name from all marriage licenses, making the state capitol the processing center for licenses and switching to an online application process.

Davis also tried to take pre-emptive measures to avoid the predicament immediately after taking office as clerk in January, writing state legislators in anticipation of the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in favor of same-sex marriage in June.

“I urged and beseeched them to get legislation on the floor while we still had time to protect clerks who had religions objections to same-sex marriage,” she said. “I got only one response, and nothing happened.”
