Wednesday’s Path – February 23rd, 2011

by Dee

Hi there!

Wow, it was our busiest day so far in the garden.  We went from 100 views last Tuesday, the day we opened the garden, to 246 views yesterday.  So with that in mind, I’d like to welcome any new visitors who dropped in yesterday.  Please feel welcome to join in the conversation!  We are a friendly bunch here, I promise we don’t bite!

What’s going on in your corner of the garden?  I see that oil prices have shot up 8.5% in a day – shall we start off our day with a chant ?  How about the ol’ reliable, and oh so expected from us enviro-haters, Drill, Baby, Drill?

Good morning fellow gardeners. Another cold snap around here. With wind chill the temp should hit a high of about -15. Where is that dang global warming anyway???? Nobody’s digging anything out in the gardens in this part of the world.

If you haven’t stopped by the Bluebird of Bitterness in a day or two, be sure to go visit. Giggles guaranteed!

    Enjoy your day!

    • Thanks for the tip! I’ve been so busy behind the scenes, I don’t think I’ve read anything in a few days. It seems like a good day to make my rounds. Maybe I’ll even get around to putting up a new post at my bloggy home!

  2. My chant is shorter than your chant: “Ill baby–ill!!!!!” I am personally going to wring the neck of the next grandchild that comes and hacks around me. After I get well, I’ll wring their necks. Right now, I couldn’t catch one if I tried, and IF I caught one, I’d never be able to squeeze hard enough to accomplish anything more than a loving caress! >8-(

    • Love the “fleebagger” terminology! And the latest entry of Bluebird of Bitterness is one to be stolen and posted everywhere!

Weather here is delightful; it makes up for the 8 or so months of summer hibernation that we endure every year.

      • Thank you, LC, for recommending theft of that post. Truth is, I stole it myself — all except for the photograph of my cat clutching the remote control, which my teenage daughter snapped some months ago (and for which I finally found a use). Wish I knew who wrote the thing originally, so I could credit him/her. I guess I should have at least credited my lovely daughter with having taken the photograph, shouldn’t I?

Huh…I don’t know if this is the right approach, but it sure is taking a strong lead! Dismissal notices sent to ALL of Providence, RI’s teachers.

    • Know what’s most revealing about that article? This paragraph:

“‘This is beyond insane,’ Providence Teachers Union President Steve Smith said Tuesday night. ‘Let’s create the most chaos and the highest level of anxiety in a district where teachers are already under unbelievable stress. Now I know how the United States State Department felt on Dec. 7 , 1941.’ That was the day the Japanese government bombed Pearl Harbor.”

Why did the reporter feel compelled to explain the significance of Dec. 7, 1941? Has the state of public education in the U.S. deteriorated to the point where a newspaper reporter can’t take it for granted that her readers will know what happened on that date? (I wonder if the reporter had to google it first, before writing her story.)

  5. Have you heard about that baby in Canada where the gov’t is forcing the family to remove his breathing tube? I can not imagine how horrible this is for the family.

Throwing away the Constitution for the gay agenda, but not upholding it for the people of Arizona or Obamacare. Maybe the way to insure defeat in 2012 is to impeach now:

President Barack Obama has directed Attorney General Eric Holder to not defend the federal DOMA law that defines
marriage as being between a man and a woman.
This, in spite of the fact that it is the Department of Justice’s specific duty to defend federal laws! In other words, President Obama and Attorney General Eric
Holder are acting as judge and jury in determining that a federal law passed by Congress in 1996 is indefensible!
The sheer arrogance of Obama and Holder is stunning. While they fully commit the staggering resources of the Department of Justice to defend ObamaCare and its clearly unconstitutional mandates…they then choose NOT to defend the DOMA law that has been in place since 1996! The President and his Attorney General have a duty to defend lawfully passed legislation, especially when the essence of
the law has been upheld by many courts. THIRTY STATES have passed marriage amendments affirming marriage as the union of one man and one woman!

And there is this to consider: Barack Obama is already gearing up for his 2012 reelection bid. He is overtly
overstepping his Executive Branch authority by abandoning
the defense of a federal law in order to pander to his pro-homosexual, liberal voter base.

Motley has been reincarnated as an owl, of all things!

Thank you for your kind words and understanding. I will keep near to my heart the hike I shared, for a season, with so many dear people. Life turns weird on us sometimes, eh? (The last three weeks have been sort of surreal.)

I am glad for you all finding a place to stay in touch and share ideas. You have some good creativity going on here. The blog name is simple, not to long, and says in one word your motto, “Propagating ideas…..nurturing a nation.” Sort of wish I would have thought of that!

Anyways, I wish you all the best. I am a better person for the time spent with all the “Hikers”.

    Appreciatively,
