  1. Good morning friends! Keep your fingers crossed for me today – the bill I have to kill comes up for a hearing in the Senate (state) today. I think I have all my ducks lined up. In the larger scope of things this is truly NBD – but in my little everyday world, it’s a bill that will have negative impacts on the everyday lives of thousands of people.

You all have a great day!

Thanks, Pete. Are you feeling better? I know they probably told you to get a follow-up chest x-ray in 2 weeks. My experience was that in 2 weeks, the pneumonia was still showing up on the x-ray, even though I had been feeling better and back to my regular life. I chose a doc-in-the-box, Patient First in case you have one there, for the follow-up, which was less expensive than the ER. I wish I had waited another week or two for the follow-up, though, and maybe saved the third x-ray.
I hope you are better and better every day.

That Chuck Schumer is a piece of work, but I almost agreed with him this time. It did seem more like a coalition of Rinos and Dems.

Glee lost me ten minutes into the second episode with the incredibly offensive Chastity Club shtick. I was especially steamed by the “tease queen” engaging in heavy petting with her bf under a picture of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Less offensive, but still eye rollingly obnoxious was the painful multi-culti nature of the singing group put up against the casting of blonde females for all the nastiest characters. Maureen Dowd wrote a column about how mean and high-school clique-ish GOP women supposedly are, but seriously … WE aren’t the ones counting brown faces or playing Slam Book games to get back at the cute and popular girls.

Here is something sort of odd. I heard yesterday that the stock of Coach was down about 5 or 6% because they have a big presence in Japan. Well, about 3 weeks ago I was in Florida with my mother and we went twice to an outlet mall there, once on a Saturday (big mistake) and once on a Tuesday. The only store in the whole huge mall that was busy was the Coach Outlet. I hate crowds so it made me crazy to be in there, but my mother was looking for a gift for someone. I thought the stuff in that outlet was still really expensive, but there were so many Oriental people in there in big groups of all ages, both men and women buying armfuls of pocketbooks. They even had a policy that they would only sell 3 of the ones that had the little “C’s” all over them to a customer, so they were splitting their purchase up over whole huge families which made the checkout line last forever! We kept wondering why in the world they wanted all those pocketbooks and then I realized that they were buying in dollars, but probably going to sell them for yen, so make a profit on the exchange. One of the expected financial results of the earthquake and all the associated horrors is that the dollar is expected to be stronger against the yen. The move in the Coach stock makes sense now!
