    • Hey…don’t laugh, but I’ll be e-filing later this afternoon. Good thing they extended the deadline! I seem to get later and later each year, ever since I had kids. I guess that means next year I’ll have to file for an extension, huh?

      • I just finished writing the checks to the U.S. Treasury and Wisconsin Department of Revenue. Was a little afraid there wouldn’t be enough $$$ in the checking account, you know, with our sole breadwinner having been out of work for the last few months, but in the end there was enough… just barely. (So kind of the government to leave us a few dollars to buy groceries with.) Praying extra hard that some work will come along very soon…

        • It’s what upsets me about the union thugs, they have jobs, so what’s their problem again?

I think we need a Fair Tax (consumption tax?). After reading over half don’t pay taxes…..well, they still shop don’t they?

Personally, I think the black panther would’ve been more entertaining. And messier, probably, but at least not in my kitchen.

    • Your nursing skills would have really been put to the test if she’d chosen the panther!

I’m thinking a wild panther would be fairly hard to come by out here, in 2011. I certainly hope I’m right! I’d hate to meet one myself, some dark night, out walking the dogs.

Actually – we just call them cougars around here these days. You probably don’t have too many out there in Westby – but don’t kid yourself. Not big kitty – baaaddddd kitty!!! Run. Run fast.

Imagine a world where you’re not punished for earning money and drug dealers and other black market entreprenuers are NOT exempt. 😀

Think about it…..the more you SPEND, the more taxes you pay. Not sure why there’s a problem seeing the common sense to this approach?

    • You make some excellent points. Does this mean we’d go from people earning money “under the table” to people buying things “under the table?” You can’t buy everything black market, though. I guess that would help improve my garage sale intake, huh?

      • Ooooh, good point Rose! I think, haven’t studied it that hard, but fair tax is like cents more per purchase? Garage sales and thrift stores are like recycling to me 🙂 In fact, it’s my favorite sport, bargain hunting. Lazy as I am, I doubt I’d travel more than a few miles for toilet paper and box wine. Both necessities in my house 😉

I have been without internet service for several days now and am just catching up briefly at a friend’s house. Good discussions that I missed. I like the Fair Tax, too, Denise. The black markets will happen some, but I bet if there are big enough rewards for whistleblowers it won’t be too bad. The state sales tax seems to eventually catch up with folks, so I don’t know why the fair tax would be any different. I’m looking forward to being back online soon so I can catch up. Carry on….
