Al Gore is the biggest damn liar. How the hell can he say the Tea Party is not peaceful. How can these libs continue to deny the millions who have showed up in DC and around the country where there has been no violence with NO MONEY getting them there other than their own?
And how the hell could Perry have campaigned for this moron and now expect us to vote for him?
I would not trust perry any more than I would trust kerry.

I could buy into the concept that Perry has grown and changed like many ex-Dems I know, but his talk on it the other day was a bunch of spinning damage control and not admitting naiveté or stupidity, instead he said Al wasn’t the wacko he is now, which proves to be untrue if you go back and listen/read Al on the campaign trail — within earshot of Perry. Wrong dishonest answer Mr. Perry.

    • Let me begin by saying that I’m not a fan of Perry. But the campaigning-for-Gore incident was more than 20 years ago. Perry was a Democrat at the time, and Gore was considered a conservative Democrat because he opposed government funding of abortion, favored school prayer, opposed gun control, and favored supporting the Contras in their struggle against the communists in Nicaragua. He was more conservative than the other Democrats who were running for the nomination; for that matter, his positions on the issues back in 1988 were not much different from those of the Republican he would have been running against in the general election if he had won the Democrat primary. Based on what I’ve seen, Perry seems to have repented of his youthful indiscretion, and as a former liberal myself, I would not want to be judged on misguided positions I took or stupid statements I made back in my misspent youth.

      • I was thinking about this very thing earlier today…how critical we are of politicians when they change their stance (or their party). I realize that it’s born partly out of a need to know that they’re not being deceptive, but in all fairness, many of us have changed our political beliefs at some point in our lives. It sure does make things complicated, doesn’t it?

        • Well, if you’ve been outspoken about your opinions when you were on one side (as I was), and then you switch sides (as I did), people have a right to be suspicious and distrustful. You need to prove your sincerity, prove you’ve actually thought things through and seen the error of your ways, repented of your former folly, etc. — otherwise, if you’re just a flake who flipflops whenever it’s politically expedient, of course no one will ever believe you or trust you.

It helps to have flip-flopped when the position you were switching to was unpopular amongst those around you.

  2. The man is absolutely unraveling. Another day to be grateful that Algore never was and never will be President of the United States!

I commented before about the latest climate change data. In case anyone’s interested, here’s a copy of my message about the latest research on cosmic rays (which are decidedly not anthopogenic) and climate.

FTR, Chrissy, any objection to re-posting your graphics on my website (with full credit & links, of course)? Not much traffic there, but they’d sure brighten up the place. 🙂

I agree with you a zillion percent about people changing and evolving; I had just read at two different places, when I wrote the above, that his reason for his supporting and working for Gore was that it was before Al was (paraphrasing) into climate change and had invented the internet. So I go to find those articles, not having a clue where I was surfing yesterday when I come across other articles (http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0811/61428.html) that are more detailed and point out Perry DISAGREED with AlBaby at the time. So, I may have concluded too quickly. Do wonder why he did not say he disagreed with Gore on the climate thing and instead said Al was different then. Naturally, if Perry had said he disagreed, most would not believe him so it it probably better others pointed it out! Thus he is spending more camera and mike time on issues and problems and not on defending himself. Excuse the lack of cohesiveness in this diddy—stretched a bit thin mentally and physically this week. Man, I so look forward to some sleep tonite. :+)
