What appears to be raw, uncut video from the event is posted at:
http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2011/11/rampaging-occupiers-attack-78-year-old-woman.php
Protesters yell at the “talent” who is there from the Daily Caller with her crew. She tries to ask one a question and he says, “I’m not gonna f***ing talk to you.” (:38)
Protesters blocked the street; a driver begs them to let him take his 2-year-old home safely. (1:00)
A cop gets roughed up trying to escort a woman to safety. (1:20-1:43)
A woman whose child was threatened goes ballistic, protesters call her a ho and tell her to f off. I know exactly how she felt and had to laugh watching her clean cut hubby, holding said child, grab her by her collar and drag her away from the crowd before she did something more than shout. (2:08-2:20)
Right after grizzly mom is taken away and, I hope, treated to a calming glass of wine and soak in a hot, scented tub, we see an older blonde woman who has been apparently been knocked over and injured her arm. (2:30-3:25)
Then there is another, even older woman (in orange) who has been pushed down some stairs. (3:25 ff)
A man named Ray Patnaude reported that the woman was an AFP member named Dolores Broderson, age 78. She had ridden on a bus for 11 hours from Detroit to get to the AFP dinner. She went to the emergency room with a bloody nose and bruises on her hand and leg.
An older gentleman fends off protesters grabbing at him as he tries to leave the building.
The rest of the video footage deals with two protesters who were (allegedly) hit by a Mercedes. It’s impossible to tell what happened and the only people talking (shouting) are protesters who are incensed that the cops are not arresting the driver.
My take on it is … either the car had diplomatic plates (it was DC, after all) and the cops had to let the guy go no matter what he’d done OR cops witnessed these protesters pull one of those “throw yourself into a car and pretend you’re injured” things and so let the driver go.
The only bit I found odd was that the guy out front, doing the most visible, on-camera yelling about the driver’s non-arrest was clean cut and wearing a nice suit and tie … hardly the typical look for these protests. But maybe the event really was staged and this guy was the “looking clean cut” (union?) plant.
I’ve heard the press has compared the Occupiers with Tea Partiers, but seriously … no way would Tea Party protesters EVER threaten anyone, particularly not children and old women!

These people are nuts. In Richmond they shut down the Occupy Richmond location after about 2 weeks. What did it was when the Richmond Tea Party presented the city with a bill for over $8,000 with a letter, released to local media, stating that they had paid that much in permit fees to hold their 3 tax day rallies in the same location that Occupy Richmond was using to camp out and carry on for free. A couple of days after that, the city shut it down, and I have not heard that they have regrouped anywhere around here. Maybe they moved on to D.C.

I was listening to local radio this afternoon while driving and they played a tape of an interview with one of the kids. He said that he lost “a brand new tent, a 10 degrees sleeping bag, and a new winter coat, among other things.” I have no idea why he just left the things there, but – hey! He could buy that stuff!
Other local news – there is an election tomorrow for state legislature. There are 40 state senators. Donald McEachin is a longtime Dem. state Senator representing an adjacent district to me. He is a black lawyer, and I want to like him but he is just so arrogant sometimes. He is running unopposed, but at the end of last week a man named Floyd Banks started a stealth write-in campaign, with the help of some tea party types of groups. They are mobilizing all the tea party people to get it going. Of course, McEachin has done nothing to campaign, not even a yard sign, because he thought he had no opposition. Maybe, just maybe, this will work! I have been e-mailing everybody that I can think of who lives in that district, which unfortunately is not all that many, but maybe it will mushroom. Keep your fingers crossed, and say a little prayer, please. Dems currently control our state Senate and we want to give Bob McDonnell a new dynamic with which to work.

I read somewhere … sadly was so tired when I did that I didn’t bookmark it sorry … the journalist in that Daily Caller video said she would not be going back to cover Occupy because they had targeted her for abuse and she didn’t feel safe. E.g., at one point, they surrounded her and started chanting, “F*** [hername]!” over and over.
