Thanks for the idea and inspiration! Yesterday it hit me like a ton of bricks. The Republican party is working full speed to make my vote not count by telling me I can’t vote for who I want because my candidate can’t win against Obama and can’t win the primary, either for that matter. MY VOTE COUNTS>>>>>> Two different radio stations yesterday were talking they believed everything of a particular candidate but were voting for Mitt because his real choice could never win and to vote for who they want in primaries would lead to a brokered convention and then the “real loser” would get chosen. “Real Loser” as in the one that can’t beat Obama. BULLSHIT!!!!! MY VOTE COUNTS. DON’T TELL ME NOT TO VOTE FOR MY CHOICE. DON’T TAKE MY VOTE AWAY BY SAYING IT DOESN’T COUNT! MY VOTE GETS COUNTED SO IT COUNTS — WHO THE HELL KNOWS WHAT, BUT IT DOES COUNT FOR SOMETHING!

I meet a lot of Ron Paul supporters. They insist they will not vote for anyone but RP. This is so stupid. This is how we got obama to begin with-Il residents (like me) were so pissed at the IL GOP for bringing in Alan Keyes, and not standing up to the tactics to destroy the other GOP candidates by the Obama campaign (sound familiar).

We live in two different universes, for sure. I hear more, “Over my dead body, will I vote for Ron Paul!” or “If the nominee is Paul I stay home”. Pauliannas that wrote in during general election could have been balanced and discounted if those that sat home because they refused to vote for McCain would not have been so stubborn. Maybe they would not have sat home if more had stood spoke up FOR Sarah and called out McCain on his non-fighting campaign. And now some are ranting they will not vote if Mitt; Paul; or if Newt; or if, if, if. in the general…..and to me that is worse than voting ‘write-in’ or voting for RP during the primary, leading to a brokered convention. No vote is worse than a crappy vote. Although both can end up making everything stink. I am sick and tired of hearing don’t vote this because it will mess up my vote. I think the Republicans have screwed themselves by focusing waaaaaay toooooo much on the strategy of winning and not on what the candidates stand for. All this can-can’t-win game playing is based on opinions and imagery. People started saying that the minute Palin the minute the last election was over. That is all we heard. Until the masses looked like they believe it. It would be refreshing to let things go ahead without the no-win strategy. If a candidate wins the primary, genuinely with an overwhelming popularity, he can win the general election. Sheer numbers play into effect here. However, if we tell one group their vote sucks and must, for the larger good, vote differently in the primary, well, human nature say, “F**k off!” Everywhere you turn, Republicans are saying don’t vote for Santorum it will mean Mitt get the votes. Don’t vote for Paul it will mean yadayadada. Too much overthinking. I think this time around, all this strategy voting and not candidate voting is hurting Newt the most. Don’t tell me my vote doesn’t count and I think it is disgusting how Republicans tell Pauliannas to shut up and vote for someone else, like they can’t and don’t belong. Like they are responsible for all the woes of the Republican Party. (and yes, people can defend RP and not be voting for him) You want to see the true colors of Republicans, see how we treat the Ron Paul voters.

You know, I think I can finally articulate where my head is at over this ugliness toward RP’s. Down further I posted an article about a screenwriter who came out of the conservative closet. As he was describing his co-workers and his keeping quiet for years I saw Republicans as those coworkers and how they talk and treat RP fans. It is like it is justified acting like “them” when it comes to Ron Paul. The difference is that for every ten or so RPers that keeps quiet, 2-3 don’t take that crap and then they are called nutjobs and whackos and told to go home — but be sure to come back and vote for who we decided without you. I would take being surrounded by “Paulbots” than “NonPaulbots”, you know, the ones who are wrapped way too tight with the need to squash any talk of him and immediately name call them when they say anything about their candidate. It is this lib behavior, this mob mentality behavior that has actually had me read more of his stuff which I would have never done before. And I have not met, in person, a vile Paulianna (a Ron Supporter friend uses this term of endearment) ever. Oh, yes, they are enthusiastic and informed. I have had to ask for time to study up in order to discuss something they wanted to talk about. Not a single one will vote third party for him, either. It is not hard for me to treat Ron Paul voters with respect because I do respect them. Now, I think I will move on to another passion or topic, like scoot over and congrats someone on a grandbaby!

I agree we need to entice RP supporters into the GOP. To me they are the new Reagan Democrats. I was one who saw the light when I first heard Reagan. I had never heard such optimism from a pol, and such sincerity. I think that is what is happening with the ron paul movement. He has captured a lot of young people who have been raised to believe the GOP is evil. They are looking at facts now. I sincerely hope that he stays in til the end, but I do not want to see him as the candidate or VP. He just gets too whacky and whiney. But I agree with a lot of what he says and I would love to see him oversee healthcare reform or the FDA. That is where his strengths are. He knows the problems with medicine and how the FDA is crushing our freedoms. He could do an awesome job revamping that mess.
The problem I have with my RP friends is that they are so hateful towards everyone else. Their virve for Paul is just as blind as those who are still obots. They are so emotional they are not thinking with their heads. I have heard them say they will not vote if paul is not the nominee, and this is just not smart. Not voting will just give us four more years of suffering, if the country even lasts that long..
On another note, I am sick of all the naysayers that this or that candidate cannot win. I believe that ANYONE can beat obo and will.
First of all, Barry only won with 3% of the popular vote, mostly because 6 milliion registered republicans did not vote. That was with a very enthused electorate of young people and women who no longer support obo in the same numbers, and white working men, who he has pretty much lost. And he no longer has all those democrat SOS’s counting ballots since we had such a turnover of GOP govs. And then there is the ACorn factor. There are many states that are passing new voting laws and going through the voter roles to get rid of the acorn fraud. It will be very hard for the dems to cheat this time.
It is not just who casts the votes, it is who counts the votes. The dems will not have that advantage this time.The GOP candidate only needs a couple of states that McCain did not win. Remember he still won 2/3rds of the states. I can’t imagine any of those red states turning blue, but I bet there will be a lot of blue states turning red. Ind and Ohio for sure.
