Yesterday afternoon I was posted in front of my machine, researching items for today’s post.DW came in and handed me a package and said: ‘your friends are at it again!’I logged off and spent the next hour poring over the most magnificent book I’ve ever read.I looked at the map of Cathy’s travels and wished she could tell me of her great adventure and all the wonderful people she met.She is undoubtedly the only doll ever photographed with Montana state officials. She really looked her happiest with the precious children she visited.
It is times like this I truly wish I had the capacity to tell you all how much you mean to me and how I love each and every one of you. This magnificent book and the wonderful comforter the ladies at Bob’s church made are two of the greatest gifts I have ever received. The love that went into making them is beyond beyond price or measure to me.I will treasure them as long as God permits me to be here.
Please know that I give thanks and pray for continued health and happiness to each and every one here. What I do for you seems so minor in comparison to what I get in return.
Just know you have my eternal gratitude for accepting me into your hearts.
I love you all.

Heard she lost her benefits. If she were smart, she could live the rest of her life on that money, I hope someone from social services guides her wisely.

When the entitlement mentality is that deeply ingrained in someone’s psyche, there’s not much hope. She obviously feels no shame whatsoever over the way she rips off people who actually go to work every day and pay their taxes. I don’t know what it would take to get her mind straight, or even if such a thing is possible.

I can just take one person saying it to a person like this. We took in a troubled teen for a year, a friend of our dd’s who needed some actual parenting and a decent home for one more year to get her high school diploma.
Really sad case. She’d never had any good parenting … schizophrenic alcoholic mother and drug-dealing, abusive father left her responsible for her 4 younger sibs, then one day, just disappeared. Literally. I kinda thought they’d been done in during a drug war or something, but she told us they turned up in another country a couple years after we had her here. Just didn’t think to tell their eldest where they were going.
So the state placed her and then the foster parents abandoned her … on the steps of church, no less. Real piece of work, those two. She’d also been raped, but they (black) told her (not black) to forget about it because the rapist was black and too many black men went to prison.
We helped her pursue it and the guy … an uncle of a classmate who’d drugged and raped her at a party he threw for the kids! … was convicted. We also saw her through a suicide attempt and a lot of other stuff. By the time she graduated, she had a regular job and was set to go to community college. She wanted to get her own place and being young and used to people taking care of her, she expected Social Services to pay her rent and keep her food stamps coming etc.
They didn’t agree and she got all whiney with me, saying how they were not helping her achieve her goals. I gave her an earful about how they’d shelled out taxpayer money for years so that she was now a healthy, adult with a high school diploma. What the hell else did she expect? When was she going to act like the adult she now was and take some responsibility for her own life?
THIS HAD NEVER OCCURRED TO HER. And, really, I had some of the same experiences emotionally … not physically, my folks took care of my needs, but they didn’t prepare me for adulthood AT ALL. My mother sent me off to college without once teaching me how to do laundry. I ruined some of my favorite things just because I didn’t know the basics about sort colors, when to use cold, what to NOT put in a dryer. I was in graduate school before I realized that emotionally I was still not standing on my own feet. I had a big talk with myself in the mirror and took charge that day. But I was 24!
Our teen did the same thing a lot earlier, but I think it was only because I SAID those things to her. They were new ideas to her. She embraced them and went on to put her herself through college.

Chrissy, that’s amazing. You told the girl exactly what she needed to hear, and she actually heard what you said. No doubt she could have found someone (probably several someones) to tell her what she WANTED to hear — that the world owes her a living, that housing and food and medical care are rights guaranteed by the Constitution and that therefore “society” is obligated to pay for them, etc. God bless you for doing the right thing and helping this girl stop being a perpetual victim.

Awwww. We have to acknowledge the adminsters who do so much behind the curtain, so to speak. I know Bob tags my posts, which I hate to do and it does help visitors find blogs on specific topics.
Our techno-dweebs are invaluable, though I’m not altogether sure does does what, y’all being very kind about just leaving me alone to compose and post.
And there’s the peeps who wooed me and Pete … dunno about him, but I needed multiple invites before I was ready to risk what I went through with you know who at you know where. Integrity gets creds for that! She just would not take NO. LOL
Heck. All I do is swan around in my frilly white frock and my big sun hat, drinking sweet tea and regaling you all with my not so humble opinions about whatever crosses my mind. And Pete … I imagine him on a soap box, like the guys in Hyde Park, speechifying to the masses. 🙂
The adminsters are like the landscapers and pavers and fence builders who create the environment and the gardeners who do the dirty work, like weeding and scooping the poop (e.g., delete nasty comments), so the rest of us can stroll around, enjoy each other and ooh and ahh about the flowers.
This is The Best Site I’ve ever visited. I’m PROUD to be a part of it.

Maybe Pete could take a picture of the comfort cover with Cathy seated on top — then we could add it to the “Cathy’s Cross-Continental Adventure” file.
Just be aware that the comfort covers are not works of art like the beautiful patchwork quilts that you make, Chrissy. They are very basic. As the lady who heads up the ministry likes to say, “These are not works of art, they are works of comfort.” When they first started this ministry several years ago, I had no idea how effective or far-reaching it would be. They get thank-yous from all over the country from people who have received them, with the most remarkable testimonials about how the cover helped them through difficult times. A few people have even attributed miracles of healing to them, which may sound a little outlandish, but who am I to judge? God can use just about anything to achieve His purposes, even a simple little concoction of soft flannel fabric layers with fiberfill in between! 🙂

Why there was intro hooplah about this video coming out I don’t know. Don’t tell the adversaries what is going on. They had plenty of time to prepare and be ready with sound bites, prepare drones minds to reject , etc., O’Keefe’s Acorn was so good because they had no idea it was coming thus no pre-spin. It was stupid of breitbart to mention the tape and even more stupid of Hannity preparing everyone for its “unveiling”, which ended up being anti-climatic anyways. We must stop being stupid and announcing ahead of time each “surprise.” Sorry, but we lost on this one. Most will not take the tape seriously; he was, afterall, young and in college and we all were there once. It should have been released as an expose of the professor. Where he started. Where he ended up. His friends. All with no mention of Obama. Then……Boom….after even Libs trashed talked the guy, the video of Obama is shown. This just reinforces to the Dems Obama’s hero status and great oratory skills; just when we were getting them to believe he could only talk with a teleprompter. There is nothing to brag about the “finding” of this tape. We can not even set a decent trap. Yeah, cranky over this one.
LikeLike
Have to agree with you, Hoot — announcing a surprise ahead of time is totally self-defeating. Reminds me of the incompetent campaign run by McCain in 2008, when he kept announcing ahead of time what he was going to say to Obama the next time the two of them debated.
LikeLike
Breitbart planned the O’Keefe ACORN unveiling. Unless his final illness, whatever killed him, affected his judgment, my guess is the tapes are carefully planned and the pre-announcements were part of the plan.

No doubt he had his reasons. I just don’t like the whole idea of giving your enemy a heads-up on where, what, or when your next attack will be. My teenager and I just finished listening to a Teaching Company lecture series on History of Western Civ, and during the lectures on WW2, I was very impressed at the elaborate lengths the Allies went to to keep the Axis in the dark about their D-Day plans — setting up dummy armies and piling up war materiel near Dover to make Germany think the Allies would attack at Calais rather than Normandy, sending out all manner of deceptive information, creating dummy radio broadcasts for the Germans to intercept, and so on…. fascinating stuff. I don’t think we have to resort to actual deception to defeat Obama, although creatively misleading the opposition as to what we plan to do is not out of bounds, as long as it doesn’t involve perjuring ourselves or anything. But in general I don’t think announcing your real plans to the enemy is a good strategy.

This reminds me of the propaganda about cancer.
For decades we have been bombarded with information that this or that causes cancer. But since no one cause is the smoking gun, people believe that cancer is just a crap shoot and ignore the warnings.
The truth is, cancer is a cumulutive effect of many things.
This is the same with Obama. There are mountains of videos out there that expose him in bits in pieces. But people ignore it because none of them get a huge reaction on their own. People are not looking at the big picture, the accumlation of all the evidence!
He has never been vetted! If all of these videos were brought out daily, even those that seem a bit innocuous, people will have to stop ignoring the fact that obo has a lot of skeletons in his oversized, walk in closet.
Open those closet doors and keep airing his dirty laundry one piece at a time. Eventually all of his dirty socks, dirty associations, and dirty tricks will pile up and no one will be able to just step over it or cram it back into the closet, shut the door and ignore it.
Keep the bombarbardment of exposing the real barack obama coming!
We need to rid the country of this cancer!
Maybe we need to start walking for the cure. . .

Found The Undefeated at Netflix!
When I put it in my queue, another I didn’t know about popped up in the recommendations. “I Want Your Money” 2010 PG 92 minutes — “Drawing on presidential speeches, comic animation and graphics, this rousing political documentary examines the U.S. economy and holds the government accountable, with Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama pitted as flip sides of the federal spending coin. The film describes the course of the American dream during recent administrations, with such politicos as Ken Blackwell, Mike Huckabee and Andrew Breitbart putting in their two cents.”
Customer review (5 stars): “Full disclosure: I am a fiscal conservative and have attended several Tea Party events. This flick touts conservative economic policy by contrasting it with the policies of the current administration. It moves along smartly and has quite a few funny moments, poking fun at both liberals and conservatives. The animation is similar to the graphics of political cartoons. Many basic issues, such as the Forgotten Man and the Broken Window are presented and the content echoes many points made in the book “Ecoomics in One Lesson.” To me, the best moments were clips from President Reagan and Milton Friedman. If you like liberal economic policy, this film will drive you nuts. If you’re a conservative, you’ll love it. If you’re somewhere in the middle, see it – you will be entertained and might learn something.”
