I understand why Barry and his buds want more kids to go to college. Since most so-called institutions of higher education are just leftist indoctrination centers, they produce more mindless ninnies who will always reliably vote democrat. And they produce more young adults who are up to their eyeballs in debt, and likely unemployable (unless they majored in math or engineering), who will be dependent on Big Brother for unemployment checks, food stamps, obamacare, etc. They will always vote for the party of Big Government.

My kids have taken so much grief for not going to college. But they are all employed, and all but one are debt-free, which is more than you can say for most of their contemporaries who went to college. I’m really proud of them for swimming against the tide.

Being a businessman,Romney would be wise to encourage young people to go into skilled trades like welders,CNC programmers,plumbers,IT specialists,they all make pretty decent money and there should be no shame in working with your hands.Do you know how much a heavy equipment operator makes?

Yep, that would be good advice. It is getting hard to find some skilled subs in the building trades now. Especially the ones that require heavy work, like masonry, or slate roof work. The good ones are retiring and there do not seem to be many skilled and conscientious and honest tradesmen to take their places.

Dearest and I were landlords for a few years back when the first two of our 3 were making their grand entrance.
We had to get some repairs done on the 70-year-old stucco siding, so Dearest asked around and got a recommendation for the best guy in town. Turned out to be the fellow I sat next to in 5th grade … until I stuck him in the butt with a pin and he yelped really loud and leapt into the aisle, which was one too many practical jokes between me and Eddie. Sigh … I got my seat moved and my new seatmate wasn’t nearly as much fun as Eddie had been. Dang!
So there we were, getting caught up with Eddie. Dearest and I were just starting out. I only had half of a Master’s degree, which I never did finish. Dearest still had not quite completed his degree, so was still a long way from being eligible to take the architecture licensing exam. We had years of college loan payments ahead of us and were too broke to even live in one of our own good apartments. We were essentially camping out in the illegal, unrentable one while Dearest did the repairs it needed. (I had two babies in that dump, which Dearest did not complete repairs on until we were packing to move. Argh.)
Meanwhile, Eddie had apprenticed to a mason out of high school and was at the top of his profession and owned both his own home AND two rental properties. Dearest and I ended up looking at each other, kinda wondering when we were going to be grown-ups too.
We never pushed any path on our girls and each has followed her own drummer. None has done the college + career thing the local liberal university crowd consider the only appropriate choice for women as smart as they are. Yet gee, they’re happy and debt-free … who woulda thunk?

I’m just praying that Wisconsin’s voter ID law will not get thrown out before the elections take place (we have several coming up, in addition to the November one). My driver’s license pic is so hideous that I hate showing it to anyone, but in this case I’ll just grit my teeth and endure the humiliation. It’s for the greater good. 🙂

Dearest was an election worker yesterday for the NY primary. He was hot to catch some slimeball trying to vote for a dead person, but alas, he got placed at what has to be the least visited polling place of all time … in an Ivy League University neighborhood on GOP primary day. He and 3 other people “worked” that polling place from 11am to 9pm. They had 4 voters total. Romney won.

“Hispanics are getting more Republican the longer they are in the country.” I’d really like to see some statistics about this.
My aunt goes to a Catholic church in California with a substantial percentage of Hispanics. She says they are very opposed to abortion, yet in 2008, seemed to be completely out to lunch about the Democrats’ real agenda re: abortion.
I’ve been thinking that there could be a big shift to the right in the Hispanic (esp Mexican) Catholic demographic. Obama et al. tipped their hands big time with the HHS mandate and the Obamacare mandatory abortion fee. And the American church finally grew a pair and formally kicked Kathleen Sebelius out because of her long-standing support for abortion.

Try to listen to WLS chicago online today, the Bruce Wolf and Dan Proft show, as they interview a guy who talks about his book on the Reagan assassination attempt (Rawhide Down). He relates a 31 year old surgeon, who went to work that day to do a gall bladder operaton, and ended up with the heart of the president in his hands, with secret service. It is chilling. We came very close to losing one of the greatest leaders ever.
