THE FRIDAY GRUDGE; R.I.P., AMERICA

Posted by Pistol Pete

I had not intended to post today, considering the world-class funk I’m in.Yet after yesterday my loyalty to you precludes my personal foibles.I plan to shut down my computer today and leave the television off for awhile. The kids bought me Edward Klein’s ‘The Amateur’ for Fathers Day and I’m going to take the time to read it.My thoughts are going to seem disjointed and subject to rambling because there are a lot of informational fragments I need to clear.

I’m listening yesterday and I hear:Obama won today, but this will really fire up the Tea Party.Fire up for what?Does that mean we’ll run into the voting place instead of walk? Most people already had their minds made up and what happened yesterday did nothing to change that.As expected, democrats behaved like spoiled children who stick their tongue out at you because they got away with something with no punishment. They’re sore winners and even sorer(sorer?) losers the few times it happens.

Looking at Chrissy’s post about SCOTUS nominees,it seems democrat presidents ALWAYS!! appoint reliably liberal judges. With Republican nominees its a crapshoot. The trouble with these stealth nominees is that conservatives are never pleasantly surprised.Ever.Such was the case with Benedict Roberts yesterday.

IT’S BUSH’S FAULT!!

There were rumors he switched his vote at the eleventh hour, perhaps due to bullying by The Usurper. In his opinion he stated that they were not responsible for the bloodthirsty pieces of liberal shit the ignorant masses vote into office.(OK,I took a little, well,a lot of poetic license).

Obamacare was rejected on the four points it was brought up on,so Roberts invented a fifth, about the mandate being a tax by himself, out of whole cloth. It is sad I will not live long enough to see us rid of the Jewish lesbian, the ‘Wise Latina’ and Benedict Roberts. We’re stuck with them for the next 20-30 years.

Give the democrats credit for doing their homework. They rejected every decent judge Bush nominated to the courts until they saw one they could turn.Remember Miguel Estrada? He languished for two years before he withdrew his own nomination, because the dems saw him as a potential nominee to SCOTUS.They were able to do this thanks to McShame and his ‘Gang of 14’ that snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

I will continue my mindless diatribe in the comments.I have to refill my coffee cup anyway.

I’m pleased by Roberts throwing the whole thing back into the Legislature where it belongs. We’ve long been on a track of going for big, quick solutions to complex problems, getting SCOTUS to rule once for all. It’s a bad plan. It puts WAY too much power into the hands of 5 people who are nominated by one person and approved by a majority of 100.

I’m glad Pete got one of the points I was making … that Dems appoint politically Left animals to the bench. But I don’t see the other side as political. I see Republicans appointing JURISTS to the bench, people who rule cases on their individual merit, not on a set of political talking points.

As for mobilizing … from what I read, this decision has mobilized the one group that’s been annoying me the most, namely those third party types who are just Too Good to vote for Romney. That makes me NUTS. it’s the same holier than thou attitude Carter had to the Shah of Iran that got us the freaking Ayatollah! I was taught that, when making a moral choice where no truly good option is possible, the least bad of the options is the best and most moral choice.

IMHO, throwing away a vote against Obama is NOT the least bad option, no matter how much someone may be bummed out about Romney. NO third party candidate can win. Period. If Roberts gets these twits to hold their uppity noses and vote R in November, then I’m happy.

Chrissie, you are so right about the third partiers, aka Paulbots. They are in an uproar. If Ron Paul is tapped to present the replacement for Obamacare(about the only thing I love about RP is that he supports holistic health), Romney will bring this faction into the fold.
I have faith that Romney is someone who knows how to form a coalition of experts. I still say if he announces at the convention that Ron Paul will be his choice for head of the FDA, it will be another Reagan landslide. All 57 states red. Yes even IL will turn if we can get enough zombies to stay in their graves.

BECK ON OBAMACARE RULING: ‘I SURE AM TIRED OF PROMINENT REPUBLICANS SELLING OUT CONSERVATIVES’
Boehner boldly announced he was going to schedule a vote to repeal obamacare for July 11.Why?You know it’s not going anywhere with Reid blocking everything that goes to the Senate. This is simply more Kabuki theater so they can go back to their districts and claim they tried to stop it.Boehner,Kantor,McCarthy and the whole leadership of this band of eunuchs have to be replaced. How about Allen West for Speaker and Joe Walsh for majority leader? They’re real men with a full set.

So you pay the fine if you, in essence, don’t pay that tax.” Moran laughably replied: “You still have a choice.”
      ———–
      Re: choice

Dearest has no insurance and does not want any. He’s holistic and resents bureaucrats saying he has to take his scarce resources away from the health care he chooses to buy in order to pay for an insurance policy that covers nothing he wants. Essentially, they’d force him into having no health care at all, since he won’t do what any federally approved policy would cover.

So … we’ve decided, if Romney loses and we get stuck with this damn thing, he’s going to just keep on doing what he’s doing. And he’s not going to pay the IRS penalty … I mean, tax. If enough of us refuse to sabotage our health care choices, the IRS will be overwhelmed and unable to handle the caseload. If they manage to go after some of us, we’ll storm the blogosphere with the news of how the Bully Obama Administration is LOCKING UP people for choosing herbs over insurance.

    • Yes…yes…yes!!! READ THIS. I didn’t think I was going to like it at first, but it’s very good.

“Under [my] theory, the mandate is not a legal command to buy insurance,” Roberts wrote. “Rather, it makes going without insurance just another thing the Government taxes, like buying gasoline or earning income.”

      Huh?

Yes, Roberts actually wrote those words in what will certainly go down as his most famous and studied work ever. Our Ivy League-credentialed chief justice just wrote that going without insurance can be taxed just like income and buying gas, without realizing that many people do not make income or buy gas.

It must have escaped Roberts that you can avoid making income — which is ironic, since many of the folks celebrating his ruling avoid just that. And he missed that you can also avoid buying gas. Heck, Obama’s energy secretary avoids that. But now, under Roberts’s own theory and using Roberts’s own words, you and I cannot avoid buying insurance without being taxed as a result.

This definitely sets a precedent for expanding the taxation power of gov’t. Now they can tax us for things we DON’T have. And, as I’ve stated before…

This ruling is just beyond foolish. It is parallel universe stuff. Antonin Scalia said in his dissent that “the Court today decides to save a statute Congress did not write … [it] regards its strained statutory interpretation as judicial modesty, it is not. ”

Let me translate: you just wrote a bill that did not really exist so that you could uphold it on arguments that were not made — and you are not half as smart as you think you are in doing so.

Scalia continued: “It amounts instead to a vast judicial overreaching. It creates a debilitated, inoperable version of health care regulation that Congress did not enact and the public does not expect.”

Well written blog. One can feel the emotion in your words. I am in the same funk, but I do not feel this really was a defeat. We were in a losing situation either way with this ruling, so we just need to take it from here.
I think Roberts was trying to find a way to stick it to Chairman Obowmao and I think he did so. There is no way he would be ruling in favor of this piece of shit legislation after barry called out the court in his state of the union. He just wanted to send a message that he was not going to be the whipping boy for the obama campaign and threw the ball back.
The dems may be crowing about it, but they know they did not win in the long run. They can claim victory, but they just lost their hope that obamacare would not be a on the platform for November. Not it IS the platform.
Most people do not like obamacare, or are at least wary of it. The dems were hoping it would be overturned so they could go on about how partisan the court is (even though their side never flips as you pointed out). This was going to be THEIR campaign issue-Re Elect Obama or we will end up with more conservatives on the court and they will rule against women, blacks, etc etc. They also wanted to run on how evil the partisan republicans are and how much they don’t care about helping women and children get free health care.
Now what can they run on? Their own record?
Obamacare is now the issue and every part of it needs to be trotted out, every single day before the election so that more people see it for what it is, a huge blow to liberty and a huge tax burden.
Roberts is catching hell for this, but I think he decided to take one for the court. He does not want to be working with more Ruth Buzzi’s or Sodacrackers in the years to come. I think he wanted the court to not be part of Obama’s campaign and in that he succeeded. Some say he sold out the right, but he probably did us a favor. He turned the focus of this bill back to the dimwits who passed it. It is there job to fix it not the courts. And by calling it for what it is, a huge tax increase, he will get more people riled up.
What we have to worry about is how will the Romney campaign handle this? If they beat the drum every day about what is going to happen to us when obamacare is in full gear, more people might get it. If he just goes on to the same old thing everyday, the way McShame did, barry gets more time in our house.
So let’s not give into despair yet. This is not really a loss, just as if it had gone the other way, it would not have really been a win. This is just more reason to not give up on the Revolution.
Keep in mind how many times the colonists had to pick themselves up and fight on for future generations. We have to do the same. What we are suffering pales in comparison to the sacrifices the freedom fighters of 1776 endured.
I truly believe that that American spirit is still much bigger than the socialists who are trying to destroy it.
In the end, the real victory will be ours.
“We have only begun to fight”
Let’s turn all 57 states red in November!

Taking up most of my time has been a site for our old family music and food business, which was long dormant, and which we’ve been struggling to revive and bring into the age of YouTube. We have a mountain of great video to edit, lots of old, some new, but we don’t quite have the computer power to do what we’re trying to do. ‘Twas ever thus, as I push to the limits every creaky old piece of equipment I’ve ever had. And then there’s that pesky little matter of revenue….

Some of the old rock is pretty raunchy. Mrs & I as the grown-ups used to say we were glad we couldn’t make out many of the punk bands’ lyrics. Not so easy to ignore when you’re editing them with headphones years later! (We haven’t got to our bluegrass night tapes yet.) I post a nice safe jazzy piece for your entertainment.

Well, I go on a mini-vacation and return to no Grudge. Am saddened about Pete. Have I interpreted correctly that “Happy Trails” is not meant as a funny? If this is reality, ………sigh……….well……..sigh. Another sigh. Time moves on. We have all been blessed with PP’s posts. Hopefully we were paying attention enough to learn from his technique and keep going for the next generation of Polinators……

Perhaps Polination would offer an Open Thread and sort of bring PP along for the ride in our hearts — Hmmm, ‘polination’ + Grudge = The Pudge Open Thread. It could run for several days and be “made new” as admins see getting tooooooooo long. Each Polinator(admins) and Polintoree (non-admins, lurkers, stalkers, guests, big mouth visitors) could post a few things they see around town we know “The Buzzers (not Buzzards) are going to like this!”
Then of course, the rest jump in and comment and on good days/hot topics we might even dialogue! So the Open Thread would not get lost and disappear behind all the individual posts, maybe even a boxie thingie on the the side bar “Open Pudge” could be utilized (I don’t think I am unusual in that I tend not to participate in posts I have to work to find amongst other posts.

Yeah, I know; pretty saucy to suggest how others can do their site and make more work for someone else, especially since, well, we know my history of running and hiding from doing the blog thing. Plus it is mentioned before the dirt is on the grave, so to speak. I respect PP’s choice, if true, and would not want all his hard work to be wasted by his spirit vanishing from these parts. It is just that many are already here and to start another blog to pick up slack just dilutes the gene pool, so to speak..

Did I miss something? Is PP putting the Grudge out to pasture, or just taking a well deserved break?
Please say it ain’t so if you go…

I’ll be back when I can open a website without the bile rising in my throat.
‘for lo,I am with you always, even unto the end of the earth.’

    • Pete, you get back to Grudge-ing when you’re ready. We’ll be patient. Anyway, we’ll try. 🙂

” PP sighting! A Pete sighting!” Pete, this site has installed bile-spewing protective gear and a mind-progrmming button that makes the brain say, “naa-naa, The Regime can’t touch me” when one of the O’Elites attempt to program the masses. It is sort of a super charged, blinged-out tinnie.
