Headline on Drudge says Condoleeza Rice is the frontrunner for Romney’s veep pick.
I have mixed feelings.Yes,she’s smart and can claim foreign policy experience.However,she’s a moderate,pro-choice and from what I can remember was on the wrong side of a lot of issues in the Bush White House.This also gives the dems an opening to bring up Bush and the Iraqwar all over again.
Rush likes her,Levin hates her.

We used to have next door neighbors who were obsessed with appearances. She wore lipstick to mow the lawn. He waxed his hubcaps and took his boat out of the water mid-summer to clean the algae off the underside.
As usual, we had had the obligatory “I’m severely allergic to chemicals” talk when they moved in. They complained our house needed painting.
I’m on disability. Dearest was unemployed. We had 3 kids in elementary school. Painting the house was not quite up there with food and gas to look for work.
I never ascertained if these two concrete-brained excuses for humanity were liberal, but they were dumb enough. I was in my yard one day and he came out to his yard. The wind is blowing across his yard into my yard.
So what does he do WITHOUT SAYING A WORD TO ME? Hook up his hose to a canister of who knows what and start spraying the lawn. I only realized it when the mist hit me.
Terrified, I called out, “What’s in that canister?”
Honest to God reply, “Oh don’t worry. It won’t hurt you. It’s just something to kill the dandelions.”
Operative word there, moron, is “KILL.”
Praise the Lord, they moved away. Before going, they told us they’d decided to sell their house and move to a better neighborhood … some place “where people take care of their houses.”
I think they meant me to feel bad about that. ::snort::

I thought I had a crazy neighbor because he was so obsessed with his perfect grass, he would literly trim the edges of teh sidewalk by hand at a 45 degree angle. And he would never dream of letting anyone step on it. I never saw his kids play in the yard once in 15 years! I was so tempted to sneak out there at night and write something on the lawn in bleach. lol. But he seems like a choir boy next to what you put up with. Thank God they moved!

We used to have a couple of people in our neighborhood who were obsessive about their lawns and were always out there primping and manicuring and making sure there was not one blade of grass longer than another. I’m sure we drove them crazy with our yard full of dandelions and clover and crabgrass. We were probably the reason they moved away!

I just love my weeds! The lawn is so sturdy for the kids to play on, it has pretty white, pink, yellow and blue blossoms at various times. And in August when all those short grassy lawns go brown, our yard is still green.
We get lots of visitors too … deer, bunnies, groundhogs, all kinds of birds. One time I got to see two mother turkeys bring their combined nestlings to our yard to enjoy our organic salad bar.
My favorite visitors are the goldfinches. They’re such a beautiful color and have that unusual dolphin-like flight pattern. They LOVE my yard when the dandelion goes to seed. They fly from stalk to stalk, eating the seeds.
We built a sand Zen garden (12 foot circle, 4″ deep fill with sand and an artistic “rock sculpture” in the middle that doubled as a camp fire pit. It was so fun to go out at night and make S’mores, look at the stars and sing with the kids.
When they got older, we were Teen Central for “Night Games” because we had the camp fire, a big lawn with spotlights for volleyball and water pistol fights and outdoor outlets for the boomboxes. Dearest and I would turn off all the lights in the house and peek at the kids out there just running around and laughing and having good, clean fun. No sex. No drugs. No alcohol. It made us feel like the Best Parents in the World. 🙂
I didn’t intend the sand pit to be anything other than a soothing place for me to go rake out my anxieties and a focal point for our night time family gatherings. But it turns out that wildlife uses sand to get rid of parasites on their fur and feathers. I’ve seen bunnies rolling around in the sand and that one time when the turkey moms came up, one of them supervised the group in the grass, eating our grubs and whatnot, while the other took the little ones, one at a time, into the sand pit to teach them how to “bathe.” It was magical.

My great grandparents never had air conditioning, in the deep south. I just remember grandpa going out side and sitting under a tree all day. We had some pretty great conversations as I sat on a tree stump next to him.
Can’t we just tell these people to go sit under a tree? Grandpa was a retired barber, but I am sure the people getting the free AC don’t have jobs.

Me too. Heard tonite Jason Lewis saying (radio guy) that they would never pick someone like West because noone is going to pick or vote for a first term guy so new to politics. And saying blah blah about they have to have someone already vetted to stand up to the democrats. Poppycock! People would be mesmerized by Allen West’s balls and personality. Uhm……we can learn from the barry experience and realize that sometimes out of nowhere can be a good thing. It wasn’t with Sarah because the Republicans woosed out. SWEET! Chicago had its annual gun buy back day last Saturday. They collected 5,500 guns for which they exchanged MasterCard gift cards.
A downstate pro-gun club turned in what they described as “rusty, non-firing junk” and are using the $6,240 in gift cards they earned to buy ammo for their NRA youth camp where they teach kids how to handle, own and shoot guns safely and responsibly.
There will be enough money left over to provide four bolt-action rifles as give-aways to lucky campers.
