The “It’s behind me… isn’t it?” picture above is a very accurate depiction of how our cat treats our dogs… the cat loves to chase the dogs and bite their hind legs. The older dog is terrified of the cat. The younger dog will actually play with the cat and “soft mouth” bite the cat and the cat meows like it is being hurt when it really isn’t. (When we first got the cat, I didn’t see the cat attack the dog, and only heard the cat cry out… then I would sternly tell the dog to leave the cat alone… it wasn’t until later that I realized that when the dog left the cat alone, the cat would go chase after the dog and try to re-engage the dog, so I knew that the cat wasn’t getting hurt and was in reality the instigator!)
Wellll, six cats at our place, one at the office, and our possum-killin’ dog… has learned to be… something like humble. Some cats respect his hugeness and keep their distance, but a couple are all up in his face, which he mostly tolerates, but occasionally he gruffs at one, then runs over to me sheepish and contrite. My favorite behavior is when the cats start wrestling or getting up somewhere we (try to) prevent, or one makes a sudden noise, dog will run over by us, as if to say, “wasn’t me!”

I have six cats (two cats and four grandcats) living under my roof at the moment. A dog wouldn’t have a prayer.

The funny thing is, I remembered the concept and went looking for a JPG to post above.
It wasn’t until today that I realized I had written a post with this content (received in an email) nearly four years ago!
