Its about 48 hours until the man-made disaster called Sequester kicks in.The closer the deadline approaches,the more unhinged the left is becoming.I’m posting a pair of links today about McConnell trying to get the GOP senators cedeing complete control of the cuts over to Obama.I was shocked when I read about this capitulation until I came across another item that proves Barry doesn’t want the sole responsibility for making the cuts.That would mean he had to do something he was directly responsible for and couldn’t blame somebody else.Leadership is hard,you know?

Today’s Democrats are BULLIES. I’ve seen so many clips of Republicans and Conservatives who appear on the other stations who act like Hannity does here – trying to have a calm, factual discussion of issues – who are treated by the hosts of the show the same bullying way Ellison treats Hannity here. Anybody who sees this and still says Fox is biased is an idiot.

Wow, they tore the school down last summer. So sad, it was such a part of the community, but it had really outgrown it’s usefulness. Too big for a jr high and too small for a HS. Plus, there was not enough outdoor space for parking and sports. I guess it will be some new shopping center or something.
So much has changed in Wheaton. It use to be dry, and for years, they would not let a McD’s in town. But the progressives started to move in, got into the govt. and changed it, just like everywhere else.
BTW, My step mother was from your neck of the woods. I remember being up there in a cabin listening to the most amazing musician ever on the best album I have ever heard:

They really tore that school down? I can’t believe it. My sister and my big brother went there, but then they built Wheaton North, and that’s where my other brothers and I went. Wheaton North was a very modern structure for its time (looks dated now, of course, but this was in the late 1960s), while Wheaton Central was much more traditional. Central had more architectural style and class, but North had air conditioning. That’s why summer school always took place at North, never at Central.
Wheaton really has changed a lot. I don’t get back there often, but when I do, it always gives me a jolt. It was just a small town (and still dry) when I was growing up. The little 2-bedroom house where my siblings and I all grew up has been demolished and replaced by a McMansion, like most of the other houses of that vintage in my old neighborhood. My grandmother’s house, two blocks up the street from ours, met the same fate. The college has gotten so much bigger too — it keeps taking over more and more of the town.

Yeah, the school is gone! I should have saved you a brick. As a long time resident, it was sad. But the downtown area is looking really nice (they are still stuck with sandbergs) but there are some good places too eat, though they are all struggling with the economy. You will have to come and visit this summer!
My son went to Wheaton Warrenville which is on the south side. Both North and South just went through major reno’s. Both buildings are toxic as far as I am concerned. I know so many teachers from North who ended up with cancer.
Wheaton College is growing too, as you said. The McMansion biz has slowed lately. I never could understand why anyone would want those giant houses on those little lots. Give me land!

I agree. My parents had a tiny house on two lots — they built it right after my dad got out of the navy after WW2. My father bought the two lots so he’d have plenty of room for his garden, which was much bigger than the house! After my father died and my brother put the house and land up for sale, we thought someone would buy it and split up the two lots and put up two houses, because real estate is so valuable in Wheaton. Surprisingly, he found someone who wanted both lots and could afford them (the land alone was worth almost a quarter of a million dollars). The buyer demolished the old house and built a huge new house smack in the middle of the two lots, so it doesn’t look cramped and crowded like many of the neighbors’ houses. There are a lot of huge houses on single lots — the house that replaced my grandmother’s old house is a perfect example … huge house, tiny yard… I guess the upside is that there’s not much lawn to mow. I wouldn’t care for it myself, but to each his own, I guess.
Wheaton Warrenville HS was after my time. In the old days, the Warrenville kids got split up and half of them bussed to North, half to Central. They tended to keep to themselves and didn’t mingle much with the Wheaton kids. I got the impression that they resented being bussed to high schools in another town. I guess I don’t blame them. I still mourn the loss of neighborhood schools.
