ESA Comet Lander Fails to Anchor, Perched on Cliff, But the REAL Story Turns Out to be Criminal Sexism Among ESA Rocket Scientists

The world’s first spacecraft to land on a comet has apparently become merely the first craft to ‘bounce’ off of a comet and settle into a precarious perch on a dark comet cliff where it’s batteries may not be able to recharge enough to keep it alive for more than a few days. The European Space Agency’s Rosetta mission has succeeded in depositing it’s lander, called Philae, on the surface of comet 67P/Churyumox-Gerasimenko Wednesday. The world awaits word on whether this spectacular accomplishment will yield precious data about the comet in coming days.  It may be that very little can be saved after the craft failed to anchor to the comet as planned.

But that has not kept the international community from finding something else gossip-worthy about the mission.  It seems that the wild shirt worn by a British member of the ESA operations team during the landing and a press interview has caused feminists everywhere to start shrieking uncontrollably.  I’m not sure why.  See one of the more insanity-inducing tweets here. Make sure you read the smug comments. They’re a scream.

  1. So . . . they have a problem with a shirt that celebrates strong women embracing their sensuality, sexuality, and feminine power? Wow, what a bunch of chauvinist pigs those feminists are. . .

    • Yes, a shirt that was designed by a woman, incidentally, as Sarah Knapton at The Telegraph, explains:

Dr Matt Taylor breaks down in tears as he apologises for the ‘sexist’ shirt which he wore for comet landing day on Wednesday.
Astrophysicist Katie Mack, chief executive of the humour police, said earlier this week “I don’t care what scientists wear. But a shirt featuring women in lingerie isn’t appropriate for a broadcast if you care about women in science” Actually Katie, it looks more like bondage gear to me. And none of the ladies in question seems particularly vulnerable. One is holding a pistol.
The shirt was made as a special tounge-in-cheek gift by his friend, the designer Elly Prizeman, using fabric from rockabilly fabric maker Alexander Henry. They do designs with scantily clad men too. I’ve ordered three yards.

  2. Alice Bell from The Guardian tries to explain why Dr. Taylor’s shirt is annoying to women; fails miserably.

  3. I work with lots of women in science and engineering fields, and have great respect for most all of them, but this Rose Eveleth is the biggest princess I’ve ever seen. One moment yesterday, she’s calling Dr. Taylor an asshole for his choice of shirt:

and a few tweets later, when she gets (justified) flack for it, she threatens lawsuits for “harassment.” Whattabitch.

As pointed out by others on Twitter, ironically, Rose Eveleth quite literally, singlehandedly, ruined the day of the culmination of years of work for Dr. Taylor at the very height of his triumph. And quite possibly killed his reputation and his job. Who is the asshole here?

    • Why is this bad? Because she doesn’t even hide the fact that she clearly wants equality AND massive special privileges, practically in the same sentence. WHILE DEMANDING that other’s freedoms be limited because of the way she feels.

Christopher Cantwell: “You gals remember choices, right? I seem to recall you caring about those things once upon a time.”

    • The twitstorm over Martin Weiss’ comment here is really interesting. If you go look at the 100s of American feminist hate-tweets directed at him for it, you’ll notice that 100% of them miss his valid point that European feminism is quite different from American feminism. European feminists are famous for embracing their femininity and for NOT looking sideways at men or marriage. Poor Weiss, who is not primarily even an English-speaker, and knows all about European feminism, is simply beaten into submission by the man-hating, ignorant Americans.

I hope he has gotten his mojo back. It gripes me so much that these hate-filled bitches spoiled his big day.

Well… you could admit that there might be a chance, however small, that you’re not the only princess on the planet with a legitimate opinion. I don’t see that happening, though, based on your other tweets.

“I mean, what better way to lampoon a movement that most women want nothing to do with, because it’s obstreperous, humourless, nitpicky, hectoring, tone-deaf, misandrist and populated by bores, than hounding a scientific hero because he dared to wear a shirt with a pair of boobs on it? A shirt, I might add, made for him by a female friend. ”

From the Breitbart article, which is worth reading.

“Of course, the very point of the mob action is that no conscious offense by Taylor was required for him to be boiled in online oil. Thoughtcrime does not always proceed from deliberate action; intention is divined by the accusers. The goal is to create an atmosphere of terror, in which everyone is double extra careful to pre-censor their words and deeds, and by extension their thoughts, for fear of career destruction.”

“Gamers have enjoyed many simulations in which they performed incredible deeds with spaceships. Dr. Matt Taylor did it for real. (I’m going to go out on a limb and guess he probably did it about ten thousand times in videogames first over the course of his life, often while exchanging laser fire with hostile aliens, and then did it for real.) He doesn’t deserve the treatment he got. We’re never going to have a just and harmonious society if offense is defined entirely by the eyes of a very small, very loud gang of thin-skinned, ideologically rigid, opportunistic beholders. We will not enjoy robust discourse or vigorous competition in the arena of ideas if people live in fear of thinking the ‘wrong’ way. That ain’t rocket science.”

  9. Feminists like to insult modern women that they are ungrateful when the reject feminism and crap on the hard work of early suffragists. This is a myth. Women today have been told that they are independent and can go and get an education in any area they please and go out into the world earn their own money on their terms and live their lives independent of men. But this too is a myth. Who is it that gave women the right to vote? Women could not do that through their own suffering. Who built the economy, the corporations, the inventions that fuel civilization? Whose efforts support the economy with the hard work that back the currencies so that economies wont collapse. Women have been sold a lie about their independence. They are only capable of mimicking success. The lack the tools to control and harness the environment – creativity, abstract imagination and insight, the ability to see in environment in multiple perspectives and how to harness the environment. That’s why we can never expect women to produce great inventions, art or even music on the grandest of scales. Where in history is it recorded that women are capable of these activities. Even since they were given the freedom to do what they wanted, what have they achieved? They invented Kevlar, The Circular Saw and the brassiere. In terms of business acumen they are only capable of producing the shallow crap that other women buy – produced by slave female labor in countries where women are really being ill-treated. It seem that if you are a woman with an idea (like for a book or clothing line) – there is a readymade market for you. We must pity women. Men liberated women from the lives of mental slavery. And in exchange women want to enslave us. Men have been sold a lie that Women can love them back in the same way they love women. They have total control over men due to their sexual currency. And we are now being liberated from the bonds of sexual slavery. Pornography and all the future developments in virtual reality will only cause the true value of women to become more obvious. But men readily hand over their agency to women with little resistance. In exchange we loose our freedom to create and becomes a slave to the female because of our innate desire for sex – even when we don’t want sex from them.
