If only it were funny

I was going to call this blog, “Send in the clowns”, but like the song says, “They’re already here.”

    He makes a good point — after all, Barack is our American Pharaoh.

      While researching this, I learned that the owner of American Pharoah (sic) is a devoutly Jewish Egyptian-American who accidentally spelled pharaoh incorrectly on the application for the colt’s official name. Also, the papal tiara (last used in 1963) is also a triple crown.

      I found no indication on-line of the owner’s political views, nor could I make anything funny out of any or all of the above. Still, it’s all kinda weirdly interesting, given Obama’s cult following and the shabby way he has treated Jews, Catholics and Egypt.

        Remember JRD? She is a big horse racing enthusiast, and also owns some of her own horses that race in Saratoga in the summer. Also a former Wall Street worker. She said on Saturday, before the race, that she thought American Pharoah could win, but she was conflicted because the owner had declared bankruptcy several years ago. Now that the horse has won, she hopes he will pay back the people who lost money then. I hope so, too. She described it as a Donald Trump type of bankruptcy, and not the actions of a desperate man with nowhere else to turn.

          I saw a few mentions of gambling problems and something about the bankruptcy saving the stable. I hope he really is the devout Jew they say he is and has turned to God for help with his addiction and wisdom to do right by his creditors.

      Yeah. It was the word “accomplishment” that most got my goat. What accomplishment? He didn’t breed, raise, train or ride that horse. As one tweeter said, Obama DEFINITELY didn’t “build that.”
