Catholics aren’t much for memorizing individual lines of Scripture, but we do love our lists! Two of my favorites are the works of mercy.
Seven Corporal Works of Mercy
- Feed the hungry.
- Give drink to the thirsty.
- Clothe the naked.
- Shelter the homeless/Harbor the harbor-less.
- Visit the sick/Care for the sick.
- Visit the imprisoned/Ransom the captive.
- Bury the dead.
Seven Spiritual Works of Mercy
- Instruct the ignorant.
- Counsel the doubtful.
- Admonish sinners.
- Bear wrongs patiently.
- Forgive offenses willingly/Forgive all injuries.
- Comfort the afflicted/sorrowful.
- Pray for the living and the dead.
