Lightweight Wednesday

This is one of those days when it seems appropriate to distract from the everyday depression that passes as news.
Today’s post is (mostly) offbeat, funny, or heartwarming. Just because.

FAMILY COOKOUT, BEAUTIFUL DAY, KIDS PLAYING, WARM BREEZE, GOOD FOOD..
SOMETIMES MY DAUGHTER AND HER CAMERA PHONE ARE A PAIN.

Hillary Clinton Caught With Lesbian Lovers
THIS IS THE NATIONAL ENQUIRER,SO IT MUST BE TRUE

Hillary Clinton repeatedly used unsecured phones to contact four of her lesbian lovers — sparking a bombshell scandal that could doom her bid for the White House, The National ENQUIRER has learned in a blockbuster world exclusive! “It is my understanding that Hillary was careless — very careless,” spilled one top Beltway insider. “What she wants to do in her own bedroom is her own business. But she didn’t take the necessary steps to keep her romps with other women secret, and now it’s going to explode in front of every American voter!”

Obama Proclaims June 2016 as Queer and Gender Confused Pride Month.

HEY,BARRY…WHY DON’T YOU TAKE YOUR PROCLAMATION AND INSERT IT WHEREVER FEELS GOOD TO YOU

BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

    A PROCLAMATION

Since our founding, America has advanced on an unending path toward becoming a more perfect Union. This journey, led by forward-thinking individuals who have set their sights on reaching for a brighter tomorrow, has never been easy or smooth. The fight for dignity and equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people is reflected in the tireless dedication of advocates and allies who strive to forge a more inclusive society. They have spurred sweeping progress by changing hearts and minds and by demanding equal treatment — under our laws, from our courts, and in our politics. This month, we recognize all they have done to bring us to this point, and we recommit to bending the arc of our Nation toward justice.

Last year’s landmark Supreme Court decision guaranteeing marriage equality in all 50 States was a historic victory for LGBT Americans, ensuring dignity for same-sex couples and greater equality across State lines. For every partnership that was not previously recognized under the law and for every American who was denied their basic civil rights, this monumental ruling instilled newfound hope, affirming the belief that we are all more free when we are treated as equals.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim June 2016 as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month. I call upon the people of the United States to eliminate prejudice everywhere it exists, and to celebrate the great diversity of the American people.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this thirty-first day of May, in the year of our Lord two thousand sixteen, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and fortieth.

Fallen soldier’s truck returned to his family 10 years after his death

    THIS IS SO COOL
Maj. Troy Gilbert was killed in 2006 when his F-16C Fighting Falcon crashed 20 miles northwest of Baghdad — leaving behind a wife and five children.
Now, 10 years later, a meaningful belonging of Gilbert’s has been returned to his family: His third-generation pickup truck, which the 12-year Air Force veteran had sold just before his deployment to Iraq.

With the help of the Folds of Honor foundation — which provides educational scholarships to the families of the fallen — and country music singer Lee Brice, Gilbert’s 1992 Chevy Silverado 1500 was found, restored and given back to his family in an emotional reunion on Memorial Day.

Trump University Plaintiff Law Firm Paid Clintons $450,000 for Speeches

WHEN YOU’RE A CROOK,YOU NEED TO RIG THE GAME

It comes to light from LawNewz that the law firm Robbins Geller appointed by Judge Gonzalo Curiel to represent a plaintiff in the Trump University class action suits has another connection to Hillary Clinton beyond a $2700 campaign contribution from firm chairman Darren Robbins. LawNewz did not mention the firm’s connection to the Trump University case. The information was apparently retrieved from a Washington Post data base with the Clinton financial filings on file. (The Post itself has not reported on this connection.)
It seems that Robbins Geller “paid the Clintons nearly half a million dollars in less than a year.” Why? Speeches of course.

That’s right. One of the law firms picked by the Judge in the Trump University case — the very Judge Donald Trump accuses by name of anti-Trump bias — awarded this firm the case after — say again after — Hillary and Bill Clinton had been paid a cool $450,000 for two speeches by the firm.

    IN TODAY’S ALLIGATOR NEWS:

Overnight Open Thread: Don’t Throw An Alligator Through The Drive-In Window At Wendy’s…

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A Florida man who threw an alligator through a drive-thru window was sentenced to a year of probation after throwing himself at the mercy of the court.

Suspect Joshua James, 23, is accused of throwing an alligator through a Wendy’s drive-thru window in October.
Twenty-four-year-old Joshua James told the judge Tuesday that he’s sorry he threw the alligator through the window at a Wendy’s last October. He said he found the nearly four-foot gator by the side of the road and meant to play a prank on a friend at the restaurant.

James was initially charged with felonies including assault with a deadly weapon. But no one was hurt by the gator, which was captured and returned to the wild.

The Quantified Vagina: This Startup Aims To Track Women’s Health Through Smart Tampons

Many conditions that threaten women’s fertility go undetected for years. This monthly blood testing technology could be a game changer.

LET’S HEAR IT FOR MODERN TECHNOLOGY
“We had to come up with something that would allow women to find out about these conditions sooner than every year,” Tariyal says. “You can pick up a disease any time, and letting it sit there for a year until your next visit can have consequences downstream that you don’t want. The system has to change.”

Together, Tariyal and Gire have been devising a radical new system of testing that will allow women to proactively keep track of their health by studying blood samples in the privacy of their homes. “I was thinking about how to get a large enough volume of blood to do this,” Tariyal says. “Until I realized that we actually bleed quite a bit every month.”

In 2013, Tariyal and Gire launched a startup called NextGen Jane to begin work developing a “smart tampon” and gathering information about the kinds of data women want to learn about their bodies. They’ve been traveling around the country, gathering groups of women to discuss medical conditions they have had or are worried about, to learn how to better cater to their target consumers.

Wife Finds Combat Disabled Husband In Tears At What Stranger Left…
I NEVER GET TIRED OF THESE

Specialist Christopher Garrett was a combat engineer with the U.S. Army’s 10th Mountain Division when he was deployed to Afghanistan, but a one-night mission changed everything.

“He was shot through the lower abdomen, and the bullet exited his right butt cheek. He took the bullet while on a night mission in Afghanistan.”
After being treated for his injuries, he received a medical retirement and was classified as 100% disabled. Despite his disability and the pain it caused him, Brittany said that- once or twice a week – Christopher still went out and mowed their lawn, struggling with the push mower.

And then a complete stranger changed their lives. Brittany posted the following photos to her Facebook page:

Brittany commented that, since his retirement, “his job now is just amazing husband and father!!!” And this stranger’s thoughtful gift will go a long way in helping him to do that job.
