Democrats portray themselves as the standard bearers for inclusiveness. But their own staffs prove the lie.

- Overall, just 4.9% of the 3,655 Senate staff are black.
- Less than 1% of senior Senate positions are held by African-Americans.
A respected staffer of a prominent Democratic U.S. senator who wished to stay anonymous told a reporter, “They are all so phony. Every time I hear any of the Democratic senators, including my own boss, talk about diversity, I cringe, because it’s all one big lie. That they’ve been allowed to enjoy this reputation as a party that values diversity, while doing next to nothing of substance to align their actions with their words, is expert-level deception.”
Congressman Bobby Rush (D-Ill.) said, “We attack the other party for their lack of diversity, but when you walk into an office you see a lily-white staff among some of those same members, especially in senior positions. With Democratic House members it’s shocking, but it’s also revealing … I’ve seen maybe a small amount (of improvement) but not enough to say we’re moving in the right direction. It’s a real serious problem, especially in policy-making positions. It’s absurd and it’s hypocrisy.”
