Bits and Pieces

President Trump asked Ben Carson to open the Cabinet meeting with prayer.

SHAMEFUL! (But not surprising.) “So far there is near silence from the mainstream media about the blockbuster Politico Magazine investigative report on how the Obama administration from the top down interfered with U.S. law enforcement efforts to take down Hezbollah’s drug running of cocaine into the U.S. in order to facilitate the Iran nuclear deal.”

LOTS MORE BITS AND PIECES IN COMMENTS!  Dearest installed and fired up a new electric heater in the living room this evening.  Consequently, I am trapped in my office with little else to do while it out-gasses.  You’re welcome. 🙂

WaPo’s Jennifer Rubin sneered at the GOP Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, saying that a minimum-wage worker making $14,500 would only get a $75 tax credit.

“Seventy-five bucks would probably cover Trump’s lunch tab, but really does nothing for those low-income families.”

Tweeters had the elitist twit for lunch, noting that she clearly didn’t know any low-income families.

Still, as obnoxious as her tweet was, it doesn’t hold a candle to the time that Michelle Obama told an audience at a working women’s round table that the 2008 Bush stimulus rebate checks were stupid and useless. “What can you do with $600? You buy one pair of earrings and it’s gone.”$600-earrings-n1312295

Not a single Democrat voted for the tax bill, not even ones whose seats are on thin ice. In 2012, when Obama won re-election, North Dakota Democratic Sen. Heidi Heitkamp won her senate race by only 2,994 votes. In 2016, Trump won North Dakota with 63% of the vote. You’d think she’d have been more receptive to Trump’s tax plan, but no. She told her constituents that their taxes would go up $10,000. The truth is that they will probably see their taxes go down by about $2,400. Let’s hope whoever runs against her in 2018 makes wagon loads of political hay out of the fact that she lied about then voted against economic growth.

NBC reported on Democrats demanding Republicans reauthorize CHIP, a program that provides health insurance to kids in low-income families. What NBC didn’t report is that Republicans tried to reauthorize CHIP back in November, but Democrats voted against it!

The New York Times called the U.N.’s vote condemning the U.S. for recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel a “stinging rebuke.” Iowahawk tweeted his deep concern: “AAAAAGGGGHHHH THE REBUKING IT STINGS. God I hope they don’t kick us out of the He-Man Jew Haters Club.”

It boggles my mind that this man can actually sit there and, with a straight and oh-so-serious face, say that (under Trump) Vladimir Putin constitutes a serious threat to American democracy, but that (under Obama) selling him a bunch of our uranium constituted no threat to our national security.
