I’ve been a fisherman all my life, but I’ve never hunted. Never had it in me. My best friend hunts deer with a bow and many hunters take the conservation of our wildlife very seriously. In a desperate effort to boost Heidi Heitkamp in North Dakota, the democrats are making a big mistake.
The North Dakota arm of the Democratic Party is running ads on Facebook discouraging hunters from turning out to vote in Tuesday’s midterm elections lest they lose their out-of-state hunting licenses. A spokesman for North Dakota Gaming and Fish said, “We’ve never heard of [anyone losing a license after voting].”

The most avid, tree-hugging conservationist I ever knew was a noted professor of ecology or some such thing at Cornell. His dd and I were friends growing up. They hunted and fished every season. Took me along one time and my gf let me shoot her rifle at a tree, cuz I didn’t have a license. It hurt my shoulder. I’m such a weenie, that put me off hunting much more than watching them gut the deer and the squirrel they bagged.
