Border Crisis

MEDIA WHORE MAMA: “I don’t always pimp out my half-naked, barefoot children for 15 minutes of fame, but when I do, I wear my best Disney Princess t-shirt.”

  • 90% to 95% are men who are looking for “a better life”
  • People Without Borders (PWB) appear to be funding it.
  • PWB believe “America is nothing.”
  • PWB teaches migrants how to game our immigration and welfare systems.
  • One motivation appears to be to “stick it to Trump.”
  • Most migrants appear to be economic refugees, but some are violent.
  • “Should America let in everybody who wants to come in?” “Yes.”

2018_11 28 Liberal logic - America

MILLIONS OF ILLEGALS: Based on government data, a new Pew Research Center student estimates there were 10.7 million illegal immigrants living in the United States in 2016, down from a high of 12.2 million in 2007 and the lowest since 2004. Meanwhile, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is on the verge of a major diplomatic success with Mexico’s incoming government that would process the asylum claims of migrants while keeping them south of the border.

SHOW ME THE MONEY, HONEY: Educated on a legal loophole that lets migrant “families” with kids enter the United States, the Homeland Security Department reported Tuesday that men showing up with kids at the border has spiked 110 percent in just the last two years.

The department noted that children could be used by smugglers and drug traffickers to enter the country. Families are also using fraud to game the immigration system. The department said that 170 families have been caught lying about their relationships to enter the U.S.

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen explained that historically, less than 10 percent of those claiming asylum from Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador are found eligible. “Most of these migrants are seeking jobs or to join family who are already in the U.S.”

2018_11 28 Fake News Ahead

STILTON SOUNDS OFF: Things are heating up considerably on our southern border, where the (ahem) “caravan” of Hispanic men (with a small sprinkling of women and children, densely surrounded by photographers) are aggressively – and illegally – trying to enter our country.

The toddlers apparently covered the 2000 miles at bullet train speeds while in their bare feet, and with no food, water, or shelter. You have to give them points for tenacity, if not credibility.

Democrats are predictably (and eternally) in full meltdown mode, being especially horrified that tear gas was deployed defensively against the violent, rock-throwing miscreants attempting to injure (or worse) our law enforcement officers.

Although strangely, headlines about the confrontations tend to read “Trump gasses children at border,” as if he was personally marching the weeping toddlers into the cyanide shower stalls. Luminary Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez specifically likened the situation to the Holocaust because…uh…because… Oh yeah! Because Trump! Yeah, that’s the ticket!

Little (no) mention was made of the FACT that, between FY 2012 and FY 2017 — i.e., under Obama — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) law enforcement officials, including Border Patrol agents, utilized tear gas against migrants at or near the border at least 80 times with NO LEFTIST OUTRAGE breaking out.

We are not unsympathetic to those people (not including the criminals, gang members, or incurably diseased) who want to come into the United States – which remains, despite the Dems’ best efforts, the land of opportunity.

But we would also not be unsympathetic to the distressed shipwreck survivors still in the water once the only life boat has been filled to the point that even one more person added will sink the boat – causing everyone to drown.

There are limits to what we can do, and those limits need to be established by law and enforced through legal means – not by mob rule. Because when our nation’s laws fail – and they might – the question won’t be who’s coming into this country, but how the rest of us can get the hell out.

TEAR GAS AIN’T SO BAD: Below is one soldier’s account of something that is SOP for boot camp. (My Army Princess called it the day of the “Sonic Snot.”)

“I was tear-gassed, along with about 60 of my closest friends, in an enclosed space about 20 years ago. I remember it vividly. I was marched, along with the 59 other members of Echo Company, 2/60th Infantry Battalion, into a room. The room — barely big enough for the 60 of us — was dark, the windows were tiny and sealed, and the doors were closed.

“It wasn’t fun. It wasn’t comfortable. It also wasn’t remotely deadly. And it is one hell of a deterrent. They released us from the room into the blistering heat of South Carolina in July, and suddenly things began to look up. My eyes cleared after 5 minutes. My nose and throat were back to normal in 15 minutes. And remember, we were exposed in an enclosed space. Tear gas deployed in the open air — as it was at the border — disperses much more quickly.

“Having been through it myself, I would argue that tear gas is absolutely a reasonable — even somewhat restrained — response to violent attempts to charge the border and to injure Border Patrol agents.”

  1. That cartoon up top has it all wrong. Totally wrong.
CNN did not stage that iconic shot of the poor be-gassed mama and her diapered toddlers.
    It was Reuters.

Also, FTR, Propaganda Props was the source for that hilarious and excellently done fleeing-family satire Caution sign. (Appreciate seeing it featured here!)

Rimshot indeed! I remember blogging about at least two other Reuters fake news photos. In one case, it was a crop; in another, it was material that was actually photoshopped on to the image. Both totally changed the meaning of the “news” photos. They’re shameless.

Back in January 1979, when I decided to disconnect from television permanently … as in, it was actually an issue for me when Dearest and I were discussing our futures … people thought I was NUTS. One gf asked with astonishment, “But what do you DO!?”

It’s amazing what you can get DONE when you turn the dang thing off!

At one point, my mother and sibs offered to buy us a t.v., a table to put it on, and get cable service started (there’s no reception here). We said, “Thanks, but no thanks.” It was never about the money. It was about the content. And the ads. :oP

Anyway, after we firmly turned it all down, my mother handed me the $400 they were going to use and told me my grannie had left it to me in her will!

I mean … SERIOUSLY?! They were SO BOTHERED about us not having television that they actually pretended they wanted to generously GIFT us with one, all the while they were planning to steal my inheritance to pay for it!

      • That’s some shady doing by your relatives, chrissy. Sheesh.

We’ve also had folks puzzled how we live without TV. (We don’t – I get anything I want from the web.) When folks ask, you know the girl in that commercial… they get blank stares from us.

It was about the content. And the ads.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one.

When Daughter was very young, Milady and I were watching M*A*S*H, which not really being a war show but rather mostly adults talking, daughter took no interest, seemed safe to watch as she was playing merrily with toys on the floor nearby.

Then an ad came on for a documentary about Anwar Sadat, and of course it comes up with the assassination scene, volume up, bullets blazing, screams of terror – and that got our daughter’s riveted attention! Ugh!

I got up, switched off the tube,* and we never permitted unsupervised video viewing after that.

(*Yes, this was so long ago that our little TV didn’t even have a remote.)
