MCCABE: Pants on fire – Andrew McCabe told Congress that everyone at the FBI totally respected Trump and would play nice with whoever he appointed to replace Comey. McCabe told “60 Minutes” a very different story.
BAKER: 25th Amendment — Former top FBI lawyer James Baker, in closed-door testimony to Congress, said Andrew McCabe and FBI lawyer Lisa Page came to him to relay the content of their conversations with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.
Baker says these two told him that Rosenstein had told them that two of Trump’s Cabinet officials were “ready to support” an effort to use the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office.
The 25th Amendment provides a mechanism for removing a sitting president from office if a majority of his Cabinet says he is incapable of discharging his duties. The Cabinet includes Vice President Mike Pence and the heads of the 15 executive departments. IOW, they would need 9 of those people to sign off on the 25th.

SMOLLETT FAKE CRIME: Chicago police said Saturday their investigation into the alleged “hate crime by two MAGA white guys” assault reported by Jussie Smollett has “shifted” due to information received from two brothers questioned in the case. It’s looking like Smollett paid the guys to help him fake the attack. One wonders if he did it to give his career a boost. He certainly got a lot of media coverage over it. Now, if he also does some jail time, that would be good too.

“Amazing Lucas” opined that Smollett just wanted a little sympathy incident and never expected it to become such a big deal where he’s now facing serious jail time. Bwah hah ha. Don’t call the cops if it ain’t real, dude!

I was kinda wondering if he heard he might get fired from the show he’s on and figured a sympathy crime would make it impossible for Netflix to can him. No evidence of said motive. Just a thought that crossed my mind.

There are actually two fake crimes. The first was a threatening letter that had a drawing of a noose and ground-up aspirin. That didn’t generate enough sympathy, apparently.
As to Smoillette’s motivations, as JJ Sefton said on Ace’s Morning Report, they’re completely irrelevant. Sad sack. The real story is the media’s uncritical reportage.
