NEW ENDING: I’m struggling with old hurts, but heard something good on a t.v. show. “You can’t change the past, but you can change the story you tell yourself about it.” I want the true story, the one Jesus sees. So that is my prayer now. “Show me this past hurt the way You see it.”

2020_01 08 Iran attacks

IRAN: On Tuesday, just hours after Soleimani’s funeral, Iran fired more than a dozen ballistic missiles at two Iraqi bases housing American troops in retaliation.

Trump tweeted ‘all is well’ and ‘so far so good’ as the damage and casualties continued to be assessed. He is expected to make an official statement Wednesday morning.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says the Trump administration will not hesitate to conduct further military strikes against Iran if it “makes another bad choice” and has deployed six nuclear-capable B-52 Stratofortress bombers to Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean.

An Iranian journalist told Fox News not to believe the Slime Stream Media’s reports about Iranians mourning Soleimani. She says she has “received thousands of messages, voice mails and videos from Iranians in cities such as Shiraz, Isfahan, Tehran and even Ahvaz, who are happy about Soleimani’s death.

They have also told her that Iranians were being pressured to attend the gatherings the slimers are reporting on that allegedly demonstrate how much the Iranians loved Soleimani.

One guy responded to a story about the size of crowds with this: “I went to school in Iran in the 80s-early 90s & remember being periodically put on a bus along with all my classmates and taken to regime-organized demonstrations/events. It was humiliating & we hated it but were forced to go.”

SOLEIMANI: [6:02]This is hard to hear. But it needs to be viewed and shared.

IMPEACHMENT: [2:49] – As of Tuesday, at least three Democrat and one Independent senator have switched sides and says he has the votes to start immediately on his terms.

I remember when impeaching Trump was such an Urgent Matter of National Security that the House couldn’t wait for the courts to rule on their demand that Trump violate executive privilege. ::coughcough::

AUSTRALIA: Devastating bush fires have ravaged Australia in recent months, killing at least 25 people and destroying hundreds of millions of animals and livestock. Over 2,000 homes have been destroyed by the blazes, which have so far burned through more than 5.25 million hectares (13 million acres) of land, an area twice the size of the U.S. state of Maryland.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the government was committing an extra 2 billion Australian dollars ($1.4 billion) toward the recovery effort in addition to the tens of millions of dollars that have already been promised.

The fires are still burning. And they’ll be burning for months to come,” Morrison said. “And so that’s why I outlined today that this is an initial, an additional investment of $2 billion. If more is needed and the cost is higher, then more will be provided.”

State authorities in Australia have taken legal action against 183 people for 205 bush-fire-related offences. Charges range from deliberately lighting bush fires to failing to comply with a total fire ban to improperly discarding a lit cigarette or match outdoors.

UN-UNITED METHODIST CHURCH: Another denomination is splitting over gay marriage and the ordination of lesbian and gay clergy.

The new “Traditionalist Methodist” denomination will continue to oppose.

From the wording of this article, it sounds like the schism-y, pro-gay bunch will be keeping the “United Methodist” name … which seems just a tad hypocritical.

CHINA: Starting Feb 1, the Chinese government will be imposing new “Administrative Measures for Religious Groups” that don’t toe the party line. These measures seek control every aspect of religious activity within China, including acknowledging the Chinese Communist Party as the higher authority

Without the approval of the religious affairs department of the people’s government, or registration with the civil affairs department of the people’s government, no activities can be carried out in the name of religious groups.” This means that “home churches” or any form of underground churches are illegal.
