IRAN: The House of Representatives voted 224 to 194 to approve a non-binding “War Powers” resolution demanding that President Trump terminate the use of United States Armed Forces to engage in hostilities in or against Iran and requiring him to consult with Congress before introducing U.S. forces into hostilities.

Eight Democrats joined Republicans in opposing the resolution, while three Republicans voted in favor.

Democratic congressman Max Rose voted against the resolution because President Trump had the authority to order the strike on Soleimani.

President Trump was justified in killing a terrorist who was responsible for the murder of hundreds of American servicemembers and was in the process of planning to kill more. … I refuse to play politics with questions of war and peace.

Republican congressman Mark Meadows excoriated Democrats.

I would ask my colleagues opposite how many Americans does a terrorist have to kill before they join with us. All this does is it emboldens our enemies, to suggest that Americans are divided.”

IRAN: MUST WATCH [5:10]An Iranian-American who works full-time on Middle East civil rights issues. “When did we start celebrating the death of terrorists? … Thank you, thank you, Mr. Trump. … People in Iran are happy.

BONGINO: [1:02:05] He talks about the media slobbering over Soleimani at his funeral, which the young lady above mentions. But Dan reads and plays clips. It is hard to believe how bad it was without actually hearing it. These people are NOT on our side!

He also talks about the news that Republicans are investigating the intelligence community’s IG, Bolton’s statement that he’ll testify if he’s subpoenaed, and the Left’s choice to call the targeting of Soleimani “assassination” which it wasn’t.

SCOTUS: The Supreme Court will be taking up two cases soon that should interest us here at the garden. One involves religious schools, the other abortion.

  1. On Jan. 22, the Supreme Court will begin hearing Espinoza v. Montana Department of Revenue. The plaintiffs are religious families with children. The defendant is a state agency that claims the Montana constitution requires it to deny educational choice to those families.
  2. On March 4, the court will begin hearing June Medical Services LLC v. Gee. Black pro-life organizations are arguing that “unqualified and uncredentialed abortion providers” have a long history of “disproportionately harming black women.”

COVINGTON RECAP: [2:18] In the wake of a major news outlet settling with Nick Sandmann (who has other suits pending), Catholic Vote did this recap of the media’s campaign of harassment against a group of innocent minors.
