I kinda got lost down a Scientology rabbit hole. What can I say? I think cults are fascinating. So for whatever interest you might have …

Quotations from L. Ron Hubbard’s books and speeches.
- This is useful knowledge. With it the blind again see, the lame walk, the ill recover, the insane become sane and the sane become saner.
- Arthritis vanishes, myopia gets better, heart illness decreases, asthma disappears, stomachs function properly and the whole catalog of illnesses goes away and stays away.
- Leukemia is evidently psychosomatic in origin and at least eight cases of leukemia had been treated successfully by Dianetics after medicine had traditionally given up. The source of leukemia has been reported to be an engram containing the phrase ‘It turns my blood to water.’ Scientology is the only specific (cure) for radiation (atomic bomb) burns.
- You are only three or four hours from taking your glasses off for keeps.
- Of all the ills of man which can be successfully processed by Scientology, arthritis ranks near the top. In skilled hands, this ailment, though misunderstood and dreaded in the past, already has begun to become history.
- Not smoking enough will cause lung cancer!

A huge goal for Scientologists is to achieve the state of “Clear.” The Scientology site says, “Clear is the name of a state achieved through auditing and describes a being who no longer has his own reactive mind, the hidden source of irrational behavior, unreasonable fears, upsets and insecurities. Without a reactive mind, individuals regain their basic personality, self-determinism and, in essence, become much, much more themselves.
“The full glory of the state of Clear has no comparable description in any writings existing in our culture. It is a goal Man has dreamed of achieving for more than 2500 years, yet the state of Clear is far above anything anyone even conceived of previously. Indeed, that one could become something far higher and better than a human being, personally and in a single lifetime, is a brand-new concept.”

According to knowledgeable ex-Scientologists, the cult is all about the money. The beginner courses cost around $650 each, then as you go up the “Bridge”, the price per course escalates into the thousands. In addition, you have to cough up $800/hour for auditing and packages of L. Ron Hubbard’s books. A package of books costs, on average, $4,000.

People can easily spend more than $100,000 getting to “Clear.” After that, they move on to the OT “Operating Thetan” levels, which are even more expensive. Mike Rinder, who was once something like #3 in the organization, says people spend literally decades working on OT VII, the second highest level possible. Doing OT VII costs approximately $30,000 — $40,000 per year.

Even if you reach the top level – OT VIII – chances are you’re looking at additional courses and more spending, because they constantly rewrite stuff to force people to buy the latest updates. Unless you leave, of course, but if you do and you don’t keep your mouth firmly shut about Scientology, they will use all their ill-gotten gains to persecute you and your loved ones, stalking, slandering, filing lawsuits, and even poisoning your pets.

As far as I can figure out, the “hidden source” of everyone’s “irrational behavior, unreasonable fears, upsets and insecurities” lie in traumatic events that happened to the “Thetan” that inhabits your “meat body.” One example is the “Ice Cube Incident” in which aliens in flying saucers packed your Thetan in ice and dumped it (your true self) into one of Earth’s oceans. One clue that your Thetan experienced an “Ice Cube Incident” is that you have chronically cold hands and feet. The Wikipedia link below describes other “incidents” that make the “Ice Cube Incident” sound sane by comparison.

This is the stuff that Scientologists don’t learn until after they’ve spent decades and tens of thousands of dollars immersed in the cult of LRH’s insane sci fi world. It only got out when angry Scientologists braved the cult’s vicious retribution to make it all public.

I try to end my posts with something sweet and/or funny, so special warning here. THIS isn’t that. Pray before you CLICK https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ueO2DfhBFE [1:28:50]. The testimony of this woman who grew up in the cult is deeply disturbing.

What a racket.
Outside of The LORD, all is vanity (and a racket).
It’s all about control/power and ultimately $$, and is an all-too-familiar-story in human endeavors which become cults.

Indeed. And the cults all seem to degenerate from “peace and love” to “sex and violence.”
