DAILY PRAYER: Dear Lord, We thank you in a special way today for all the utilities that are delivered right to our homes. Bless all those who work so hard to maintain them. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.

CATHOLIC: From Facebook “Catholic Memes” today – “Is this blasphemous??”

  • Probably not blasphemy but liturgically incorrect. The green squares should be violet for Lent.
  • It’s incomplete; the queen needs to be a statue of Saint Mary too.
  • And the bishops should be popes.

COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY: Having decided its hatred for Israel is not worth losing $400 million in federal grants, the university has agreed to implement a raft of policy changes.

DEPARTMENT of EDUCATION: Administration of federal student loans is moving to the Small Business Administration (SBA). Oversight of funding and some programming for students with special needs is moving to the Department of Health and Human Services.

KENTUCKY: On Thursday, Democrat Gov. Andy Beshear vetoed a bill to dismantle diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives at the state’s public colleges and universities.

MISSOURI: On Thursday, Cortney Merritts was indicted on federal charges of submitting false applications to the Small Business Administration (SBA) in 2020 and 2021. The indictment alleges he fraudulently obtained more than $20,000 in COVID-19 relief funds combined from the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program and the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), both of which were established to support businesses economically harmed by the pandemic.

Merritts is the husband of former Missouri Democratic Congresswoman and “Squad” member, Cori Bush. The DOJ is already investigating Bush’s alleged abuse of office expense funds, including paying her husband $150,000 to serve as her bodyguard.

In 2023 she introduced a bill to give black Americans a ridiculous $14 trillion (yes, trillion with a ‘t’) in “reparations” for slavery. I’m wondering if she got ad money from Frito-Lay and Mondelez International. It’s a shame she didn’t use her platform to address black obesity and diabetes, problems that are largely attributable to atrocious eating habits.

GRAMMY NOTES: Totally depends on the tone of voice used for the “Offer it up.” My mother used to say it like, “Don’t bother me with your stupid problems.” It took me decades to figure out there is actually a blessed and meaningful way to offer up one’s sufferings and also a kind and compassionate way to suggest someone else do it.
