Bits & Bytes

DAILY PRAYER: Dear Lord, Focus our eyes on You and You alone. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.

AMERICAN HISTORY: On January 24, 1848, James Wilson Marshall discovered gold in the foothills of California’s Sierra Nevada mountains, setting off the California Gold Rush. Approximately 300,000 people flocked to the region, forever altering the course of history for both California and the nation.

BOARD OF PEACE: [15:41] – Fox News’ Jesse Watters talks about what Trump did in Davos.

CALIFORNICATION: In April 2024, California passed a $20 minimum wage law for fast food workers. As conservatives predicted, it has led to the loss of approximately 18,000 jobs.

CHURCH INVASION: Loud- and foul-mouthed William Kelly has been arrested for his part in last Sunday’s incident in St. Paul. He has been charged federally under 18 U.S.C. § 241 (conspiracy against rights, related to interfering with religious freedom/exercise) and is facing up to 10 years in prison.

DAVOS: From Gary Varvel on “Pulling the Fangs of the Globalists” – When President Trump went to Davos and stared down the global elites at the World Economic Forum, he wasn’t there to bow — he was there to bite back.

While the “globalist” class has spent decades draining the lifeblood of American workers through bad trade deals, open borders, and foreign-first policies, Trump told them their era of control is over. Nations, he said, should serve their own people first — not unelected bureaucrats, multinational corporations, or utopian schemes dreamed up in Swiss boardrooms.

That’s what this cartoon represents. The globalist agenda only has power as long as the American people believe they are helpless. But once you pull the fangs — once you expose the lies and reject the system — the monster loses its grip.

America doesn’t need permission from Davos to be sovereign. We already have a Constitution. And we finally have a president willing to defend it.

ELECTRICITY: Enacted in 1935, The Federal Power Act reserved to the states to authority to set retail electricity prices and determine the mix of in-state power generation. In blue states, climate alarmist Democrats have used this authority to push wind and solar power, while limiting coal, gas, and nuclear plants. In red states, the opposite has occurred. Today, red states, especially in the south and southeast, have much more reliable and affordable electricity.

FAFO: Lexie Lawler, a labor and delivery nurse at Baptist Health Boca Raton Regional Hospital posted a vicious hate message on TikTok saying she hoped President Trump’s Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, suffered a fourth-degree tear during delivery. “I hope you f—-ing rip from bow to stern and never s— normally again, you c—.” The hospital announced that, following a prompt review, Lawler is no longer employed.

  1. Fire hoses were not used in Selma, but in Birmingham where Public Safety Commissioner Eugene “Bull” Connor ordered local police and fire departments to use fire hoses (along with police dogs) to disperse demonstrators.
  2. Connor was a lifelong Democrat, as was Alabama Governor George Wallace who directed the Alabama State Troopers to stop the Selma march “by whatever means necessary.” The man who carried out Wallace’s vague order was Alabama State Trooper Director Albert J. Lingo, who was known as a man who was “hell on niggers.”

JP MORGAN: Trump has filed a $5 billion lawsuit in Miami’s Florida state court against JPMorgan Chase for having closed all of his accounts back in 2021 because they didn’t like his politics.

LIFE: On January 22, the Trump administration ended the use of human fetal tissue in federally-funded research. That policy will apply to all NIH grants, cooperative agreements, transaction awards, research and development contracts, and the NIH Intramural Research Program.

LYING LIARS: To commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, The View had actress Pam Grier talk about the racism she experienced while growing up in Columbus, Ohio in the 1950s. According to her, her mom would often have to get her and her siblings to avert their eyes lest they see a body hanging from a tree.

According to the Ohio Lynching Victims Memorial, the last lynching was in 1911.

PRAYER for OUR NATION: Dear Lord, Grant us the graces we need to trust only in Your providence. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.

WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION: On January 22, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert Kennedy, Jr., issued a joint statement saying, “Today, the United States withdrew from the World Health Organization, freeing itself from its constraints, as President [Donald] Trump promised on his first day in office. This action responds to the WHO’s failures during the COVID-19 pandemic and seeks to rectify the harm from those failures inflicted on the American people.”
