MENTAL HEALTH: [2:42] – I love this video! I was born with what I call “the German gene.” I don’t just enjoy order; I crave it. When I have the energy and agency, the things in our home aren’t just decluttered and organized; they’re also alphabetized and color coordinated! LOL
OH CANADA: Canada’s Medical Assistance in Dying laws allow patients to request a painless death if an assessor agrees their terminal condition meets certain requirements. Patients often wait weeks, but it can happen the same day the application is lodged if judged to be medically urgent by a MAiD provider.
According to this story, the patient initially asked for MAiD, but then reneged. It was judged that her husband was suffering from burn-out trying to care for her at home and that she needed hospice. The government bean counters said no to hospice, so the husband asked if they could go ahead and kill her.
She was put down that same evening, saving the state-controlled healthcare system many thousands of dollars in end of life care. They say it’s about death with dignity, but it’s really about convenience and money.

GRAMMY NOTES: [2:29] – My major in college was Art History, but I had a strong concentration in the Middle Ages. Besides taking every Medieval Art History class that was offered, I also took all the Medieval History, Literature, Philosophy, and Music classes. In fact, if I could have fit one more class into my packed schedule, I would have earned a “Certificate in Medieval Studies” from Binghamton University’s Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies. Alas, that one class involved reading Dante’s Divine Comedy in the original language … not something you should try to tack on to an already overfull class load. Anyway … since I’m a sucker for medieval stuff, when I come across a gem like this video, I’m gonna share. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
