GREAT MINDS DO NOT THINK ALIKE: [7:43] – In college, I participated in a psychology study where we were shown words then pictures and asked to identify from the pictures which words we’d seen. Then they reversed it. The guy doing the study said I was in a small percentage of people who see a word and visualize the object. I don’t know if this particular thing is related to phantasia or not. But it was one of the first times I realized my brain wasn’t like other people’s brains.
I am on the hyper- end. I’ve experienced reading a book about which I remembered nothing of character or plot, but on one single page, I knew I had to have read it before, because I had “been in that room.” The down side of this is that it can be very frustrating to read a book by an author who is not good at visualizing. One glaring example is J.K. Rowling. I love the Harry Potter books, but my copies are riddles with penciled notes in the margins where she’s messed up the staging.

PSA: If your vehicle has ever been in an accident where the airbag deployed, get the replacement airbags inspected to make sure they were not manufactured in China by Jilin Province Detiannuo Automobile Safety System Co. Ltd., also known as DTN. Instead of saving lives, these airbags fire lethal shrapnel into the faces and chests of passengers. At least ten crashes have involved these bags. Those cases all involved Chevrolet Malibus and Hyundai Sonatas, but officials say there’s no reason to think the deadly airbags are limited to these two vehicle types.
