AMERICAN HISTORY: On February 13, 1886, painting teacher Thomas Eakins resigned from Philadelphia Academy of Art after he used male nude models in a coed art class. Despite this setback, Eakins continued to paint and teach privately, but struggled for recognition and financial stability. It was only after his death that he gained a significant reputation; he is now considered one of the most important American artists of his time. He is particularly known for his precise depictions of the human form and his use of photography in art.
APPLE NEWS: FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson has sent Apple CEO Tim Cook a letter in which he notes that, while the FTC does not have authority to require a company to curate news in an unbiased manner, if Apple’s practices are inconsistent with their Terms of Service or the “reasonable expectations of consumers”, they may be in violation of Section 5 of the FTC Act.
Section 5 of the FTC Act prohibits “unfair methods of competition” and “unfair or deceptive acts or practices” in commerce, empowering the FTC to prevent such conduct. It is a broad provision that allows the FTC to address a wide range of anticompetitive and deceptive practices beyond traditional antitrust violations.

FAFO: ICE agents followed a suburban mom back to her suburban house after she had spent her afternoon interfering with federal law enforcement operations. She was processed and issued a citation to appear. The articles say she will be charged with violating Section 111 of the U.S. Code, which prohibits interfering with a federal officer conducting official duties.

FLORIDA: In 1991, “Gay Days” began as a single-day gathering where people would wear red and go to Central Florida theme parks, particularly Disney World. Over the next 35 years, the event evolved into a week long celebration with parties, concerts, theme park visits and special events drawing over 180,000 attendees in recent years. Due to a lack of corporate sponsors, the events have all been canceled for this year.
MEDIA: They deleted this after some well deserved unfavorable feedback.
MILITARY: On Tuesday, drones operated by Mexican drug cartels breached American airspace near El Paso International Airport in Texas, leading the Federal Aviation Administration to temporarily close the airport.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy confirmed the breach and lifted the airspace restriction on Wednesday saying, “The FAA and DOW acted swiftly to address a cartel drone incursion. The threat has been neutralized, and there is no danger to commercial travel in the region. The restrictions have been lifted and normal flights are resuming.”
MINNESOTA: On Thursday, Border czar Tom Homan announced that “Operation Metro Surge” has succeeded in Minneapolis and ICE will be pulling out soon. Federal authorities say the sweeps focused on the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area have led to the arrest of more than 4,000 people, making the twin cities much safer for legal residents.
In addition, his agents “have located 3,364 missing unaccompanied alien children — children that the last Administration lost and weren’t even looking for. That’s because of the leadership of President Trump [that] these children were located.”
