The New York Times, that ever-reliable arbiter of good taste and common sense, has published a very helpful critique of the ballroom that President Trump is building on to the White House so guests at large events won’t have to navigate the South Lawn in high heels or try not to get their pantyhose in a bunch while using a porta-potty.

For more than 200 years, the largest event room inside the White House has been the East Room (80′ by 37′) which has a seated dinner capacity of approximately 200 people. For years, White House events that required more space, including formal state dinners, had to be held outdoors on the South Lawn, either in the open air or else inside tents.

The new ballroom will be able to host seated dinners for 650 and is costing taxpayers exactly nothing, as it is being entirely financed by private donations and President Trump himself.

I responded to the Times tweet by noting it was stupid to critique a building design from a flying drone’s view, since people see actual buildings from the eyeballs that are ~6′ above the ground. This fellow made some serious corrections.

Then the memers got in on it.

My personal favorites …
