Confirmed: Next Year’s Met Gala Theme to Mock Islam

NEW YORK CITY, NY—Representatives for the Metropolitan Museum of Art confirmed Tuesday that after its annual gala’s theme successfully skewered Catholicism and Christianity this year, it would continue its edgy commentary on religion by asking attendees to wear sacrilegious outfits making a mockery of Islam next year.
Gala organizers wanted to ensure they were offending all religions equally, and not unfairly targeting Christian beliefs.
“Our theme for 2019 will be ‘Islamic Imagination,’ and we will encourage celebrities to dress up like the prophet Muhammad or one of his concubines,” a representative for the Met said in an interview Tuesday. “Mocking religion is uncharted territory for cultural influencers such as ourselves. And we’re going to continue our edgy take by absolutely slamming Islam next year.”
“It’s gonna be lit,” she added.
Celebrities from across the world have already RSVPed, with Jared Leto confirming he would come dressed up as Muhammed, and Rihanna suggesting she may come dressed up as the Koran.
At publishing time, organizers had confirmed that following years would include mockery of Hinduism and Buddhism to make sure no one felt left out.

Sinko de Mayonnaise Silliness
The plan is to post some serious stuff after my morning nap. (Did I mention I’m retired and I can do that any time I want to?) But first, a little palate cleanser.
Yesterday was wonderful. Nice breakfast with my family, and Big Sis’ varsity softball team won both ends of a double header. Unfortunately, my grandson RJ hasn’t learned yet he could never get the best of his mom on his best day. But he keeps trying.

The Greatest Gift of All
This is shaping up to be a good day. My usual breakfast with my uncles and cousins this morning, then this afternoon RJ’s Big Sis has a softball game at the high school. I haven’t seen them since RJ’s basketball season ended in March. The whole family will be there and I’ve really missed them. It’s hard when they all have activities that take them in all directions every day. That’s one of the problems with being retired. You get lonely when everyone else is busy. She plays on the varsity squad, but with a lot of seniors and she a junior she doesn’t always get to play. I could care less, as long as I can be with them. We plan to go to a neat little pizzeria in their town after the game. The food is good, the company is even better. Continue reading
