Lil Buzz’s Big Adventure took him to a children’s museum!

The cousins taught Lil Buzz how to turn around and go down stairs safely. He doesn’t have stairs at his own house.

I’m so excited by this! When the first cousin in this branch of the clan was born, I made one of my fancy schmancy play pads. But a family only needs one of those, so for the second cousin, I commissioned this super sturdy log cabin.

The artist was selling a variation I liked, but I had ideas, like changing the top board from pointy to flat. I figure … kids are GOING to climb on the thing. Might as well make it just that little bit safer, maybe spare the folks a trip or two to the ER for head CTs.

I also had him put a sealant on the bottom. The stain he used is safe for kids, but doesn’t seal in the wood’s natural acidity. It’s a heavy piece and was likely to sit on a carpeted floor, in one spot, for years at a time. The acid would ruin the carpet.

The artist told me when we were done that he liked my ideas so much, he was incorporating them into his regular line. :o)

Over the next couple of years’ holidays, we splurged on this line of sturdy wooden doll house furniture, appliances and a car or two.

I am SO TICKLED to see our Lil Buzz enjoying it all!

So … it was cold and wet at the cousin’s ball game, but Lil Buzz had lots of fun and got very, very tired.

Lil Buzz is on a Great Adventure and I’ve decided to indulge myself and share it with all y’all on a (maybe) daily basis. (Depends how cute and non-identifying the pics Mama Buzz sends me from her phone are LOL.)

Mama and Lil Buzz are spending the next MONTH tooling around, visiting extended family near and far! Daddy Buzz has to stay home and defend the country, which is a drag since we’d all love a visit and he is definitely not thrilled about the home alone thing. But such are the unheralded and numerous sacrifices that come with military duty.

Lil Buzz is a GREAT traveler … and an old hand at the airports and hotels thing. He drove cross country when he was just a few months old and flew to see all of us last summer when a clan VIP was getting hitched.  (He was even in the wedding, riding down the aisle on Mama Buzz the Bride’s Mate’s hip!)  But of course, he wasn’t a Big Boy who could explore back then.

The Buzzers’ first stop was at the home of the maternal great grands, the very house where Dearest himself grew up. This makes a 3d generation of children to make its mark on these well worn stairs at the old manse.

32 years ago, I made my own mark when I took a rather tumultuous trip DOWN these stairs, followed by ER, x-rays, a lesson on how to Ace bandage a bad sprain, a trip to the shoe store to buy something with rubber soles and a swing past the Good Will bucket to drop off the brand spanking new shoes, worn only once down a flight of stairs (mostly on back end) which were hopefully purchased by someone with more grace than moi. Funny thing … I still have the rubber soled shoes. Loved them so much, when the soles wore out, I got them resoled cuz the tops were still good. LOL

In the Catholic Church, the Easter Season lasts for seven weeks – from Easter Sunday until Pentecost. I’m guessing Baby Buzz would like this to include not just worship, but also the Easter CANDY thing. …. Yeah, like Mama Buzz is gonna let THAT happen! LOL
