DAILY PRAYER: Dear Lord, Protect us and keep us pure and free in spirit, that we may be Your servants. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.

AMERICAN HISTORY: On March 10, 1862, the United States government issued its first widely circulated national paper money. These new notes, soon nicknamed “greenbacks,” were created during the financial strain of the American Civil War and transformed how the federal government financed itself. Before 1862, most Americans used coins made of gold, silver, or copper for everyday transactions. Paper money existed, but it usually came from private banks rather than the federal government.

CUBA: Speaking at his Shield of the Americas gathering of Latin American leaders in Miami, Trump said Cuba is “at the end of the line” because Venezuela cut off oil deliveries after the U.S. capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.
“As we achieve a historic transformation in Venezuela, we’re also looking forward to the great change that will soon be coming to Cuba,” Trump said. “They have no money. They have no oil. They have a bad philosophy. They have a bad regime.”

EVERYDAY HEROES: On Wednesday afternoon, a gust of wind blew a baby girl in a stroller into Lake Michigan at Belmont Harbor on Chicago’s North Side.
By-stander, Lio Cundiff, immediately jumped into the water and rescued the child. “I’m just glad the stroller was up, not face down,” he said afterward. “The baby dipped under a couple times, but I was able to keep her up. And she was breathing and crying when we got her out.”
Lio Cundiff does not know how to swim.

PRAYER for OUR NATION: Gracious Provider, we bring our economy before You. Bless the land with abundance and fruitfulness. Open doors for businesses to thrive and for employment to increase. Let justice guide our commerce and equity balance our trade. Remove greed and oppression, and bless every honest effort. Prosper our farmers, workers, entrepreneurs, and leaders so that none may lack. Teach us to be generous, responsible, and thankful for Your provision. May Your hand sustain our economy and provide for all. Amen.

The SAVE Act: President Donald Trump says he will not sign any other legislation until Congress approves this voter ID bill, which he calls “an 88% issue with ALL VOTERS” that “must be done immediately. It supersedes everything else.”

GRAMMY NOTES: I was walking on a city street once when I heard footsteps rapidly approaching from behind. I know I felt apprehensive and I think I must have hunched my shoulders or something, because the woman of the footsteps called out, “It’s okay. I’m just in a hurry!“
