FIRST WORLD PROBLEM: A totally lame action sequence that takes you out of the story.
I just watched an episode of The Untouchables that had quite possibly the sorriest excuse for a car crash ever filmed. Two black and boxey cars, like the one on the right below, are racing along in a “good guys chase bad guys” sequence that called for the bad guys to crash, roll and burn.
Now you don’t go destroying vintage cars or even let them get close enough to a stunt explosion to maybe get damaged by flying debris. I get that. But they made NO EFFORT to make the stunt cars match! They didn’t even paint them a dark color, never mind stick a fake square-ish shape on top to fool the eye. The crash scene was quick, but I didn’t need to back up and slow mo to catch the change.
THEN I HAD to go back and slo mo to see if I had seen what I saw, which I did. Grumble. Grumble. Of course, when the show was made there was no such thing as DVDs, just live broadcast, which is practically Third World, KWIM? Fortunately, I have a remote. Can you IMAGINE the First World AGONY if I’d had to GET UP and WALK ACROSS TO THE DVD PLAYER to see the slow mo?! It makes my heart palpitate just thinking about it.

Yahoo!! The Gosnell movie has been FUNDED!
Less than two months ago, “FrackNation” directors Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney set before themselves the monumental task of raising 2.1 million to make a film about Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell via Indiegogo.
Today, just a few days shy of their deadline, McAleer and McElhinney met their minimum fundraising goal. The way Indiegogo works, if they had not met their selected goal by their deadline date, NO money would be collected from donors and the movie would not get made.
McAleer and McElhinney are GOOD PEOPLE. I own all the documentaries these two have made and I helped crowd-fund FrackNation. Dearest even went to the showing in Binghamton and met Phelim.
Trust me. You can donate with confidence. Your money will be used carefully and appropriately.
Historic crowdfunding for movie about abortionist Kermit Gosnell
For a few more days, you can help fund this important project. Yes, they’ve reached their goal. But that was a minimum. Movie making is really expensive! So I’m certain more money will be welcome and used carefully.
My personal fave is the “With Perks” option of a $25 contribution that gets you a free copy of the DVD mailed to your home when it comes out. I did this for FrackNation and the DVD came. And as they say, it really is fun to say, “I helped finance this!”

Why I spend so much time on sky signs
Some years ago, the DVD “The Star of Bethlehem” rocked my world. I gave it to everyone on my Christmas list and have watched it again and again. The full story of the sky signs God arranged to mark the birth of His Son convinced me He will most certainly arrange awesome sky signs to mark His return. I recently found the entire DVD available for instant, free viewing at YouTube. I highly recommend you watch all of it and really pay attention.

Pistol Pete posted this in response to my Global Warming fart blog of yesterday.
Blazing Saddles –Farting Cowboys- Greatest Fart Scene of All
It reminded me of a comedy routine I heard once upon a time, years and years ago. A college friend had it on a cassette tape and we just howled when we heard it. It occurred to me that lots of old stuff has been uploaded to the net these days and sure enough … googling “fart competition color commentary comedy routine” scored me the exact recording! Here for your listening pleasure is The Great Crepitation Contest of 1946.

The OTHER Noah movie
Noah–And the Last Days by Ray Comfort – Full Version [30:06]
Noah—And the Last Days produced by filmmaker Ray Comfort
This isn’t the Noah movie coming to theaters and starring Russell Crowe.
Comfort says that he and Crowe have two things in common: “We were both born in New Zealand, and neither of us can pronounce ark correctly (we skip the r). But the similarities end there.”
Comfort explains why Hollywood’s version may be bigger but believes his version is better.
“Hollywood’s is listed as ‘fantasy,'” Comfort states, “while ours is based on the truth. Theirs is entertainment that will cost you. Ours is life-changing and will be freely available on YouTube.”
I just finished watching it. It’s good!
About the Noah feature film with Russell Crowe
Mar 20, 2014: The Vatican is denying reports it agreed to a meeting between Pope Francis and actor Russell Crowe, who stars in the new movie, “Noah.” Carter Evans reports on the film and how some are concerned the story strayed a bit too much from the source.
Crowe’s attempt to lasso Pope Francis SICKENS me. Crowe tweeted Francis like they were best buds, then tweeted over and over about how he’d tweeted the pope. Then, Crowe went to one of the pope’s weekly public audiences and played that up to the press.
Was Francis expected to swoon like a certain POTUS at the attention and physical nearness of a Hollywood Celeb? Ooh Ahh?
Uh. No. Francis didn’t play along. See that pope? See that bad, bad pope? Spank that bad pope with a newspaper and many, many tweets, LYING about how he rudely canceled his meeting with Crowe.
Uh. No. There was no meeting on the pope’s schedule. A meeting was never talked about. A meeting was never planned. Ergo, a meeting could not be canceled.
Russell Crowe and company better watch their backsides. Pants on fire is a real thing for deceivers who refuse to repent.

Give the new Noah movie a big fat MISS
Reasons to NOT go:
- It never mentions God.
- It preaches rabid environmentalism.
- Noah is portrayed as a drunk.
- It mutates the first line of the Bible into “In the beginning there was nothing.”
For my money, the best Noah movie ever made was Evan Almighty, which was clearly a modern, somewhat comical fantasy, so didn’t mess with sacred text in any way. Yet it still managed to present God in a very appealing and respectful way while giving insights into the original Noah story that I’d never thought of before.
By contrast, check out what a pre-release review says about one aspect of the new Noah movie:
But by far the most startling apparition in this context are the Watchers, the so-called Nephilim, or fallen angels only glancingly mentioned in the Bible. Here they take the form of giant, ferocious-looking rock people (given great, gravelly voice by Nick Nolte, Mark Margolis and Frank Langella, no less) who not only come to Noah’s aid by doing the heavy lifting in building the ark but cut down, stomp on and otherwise decimate the hordes who eventually besiege the ark in hopes of climbing aboard at the last minute.
Rock people?? Nephilim were FALLEN angels!! Soooooooo (a) angels, not “rock people” and (b) enemies of God who wouldn’t HELP God’s people. Sheesh.
If you want to read a biblical Noah story with Nephilim, get Many Waters by Madeleine L’Engle. It’s a wonderful science fiction fantasy story that is respectful of what is actually in the Holy Scriptures.

MOVIE RECOMMEND: Unfinished Song
Nothing about the cover or the description made me want to get this. I’m not sure why I did … maybe Netflix gave me one of those “Because you enjoyed” things and I figured what the heck. For whatever reason, I did get it and I’m SO GLAD, because it’s a WONDERFUL MOVIE.
Everything about it is spot on. Script, cast, cinematography, music, timing, themes. It’s one of those small movies that is so wide and deep, it’s hard to pigeon hole. It’s about life and family … love, healing, repentance, forgiveness, redemption, living, dying, choosing. And singing.
My husband and I watched it together and we were sharing the tissue box at the end, because of the flood of “that is so beautiful!!” happy tears.
