“This weekend, the rabid pro-abortion senator from Maine, Susan Collins, said that she would not support a nominee to the Supreme Court who is ‘hostile’ to abortion rights because ‘that would mean to me that their judicial philosophy did not include a respect for established decisions, established law.’
“Her argument is that abortion is not even open to discussion since it is ‘settled law.’ From this, we can conclude that, had she been a senator in 1860, she would have voted against any nominee to the Court who was hostile to the right to own slaves. We can also reasonably assume she would have opposed any nominee to the Court who, in the 1900s, supported women’s suffrage. After all, male-only voting had been ‘settled law’ for over 100 years. Last month, Ontario enacted a law that made it an offense, punishable by punitive fines and prison, to
- “attempt to advise or persuade” someone to refrain from having an abortion, or
- to “attempt to inform a person concerning issues related to abortion services”, or
- to “attempt to perform an act of disapproval [of abortion]” in any way,
if the attempt is made within 50m (or up to 150m) of an abortion clinic. ‘Access zones’ can also be created around hospitals and pharmacies by regulation, up to 150m in every direction.
People charged under this law cannot defend themselves by proving that the facts shared about abortion or alternatives to abortion are true or that people were relieved to learn about a pregnancy care center.

The Public Interest Legal Foundation, which has identified similar noncitizen voting problems in studies of Virginia and New Jersey, said Pennsylvania officials have admitted noncitizens have been registering and voting in the state “for decades.”
But state officials have stonewalled PILF requests for access to the data that could expose the problem, the group says in a lawsuit filed in federal court in Harrisburg.
