Un-ducking-believable

In an article about how Phil Robertson isn’t going to go on any apology tour soon … or ever … Yahoo TV explained that “the duck hunter” had “sparked controversy last week after he made several homophobic and racially-charged remarks in an interview published in the Janurary 2014 issue of GQ.”

“Homophobic and racially-charged”? Un-ducking-believable. Whew … you gotta wonder if the writer actually read the interview.

Author Larry Correia pointed out in a very readable blog (link below) that “most of the people who have their panties in a twist about Robertson’s hatemongery have not read the actual article in question. Even with a totally unbiased GQ reporter, it isn’t that bad, but you wouldn’t know it from all the caring liberal* outrage today.” [Note from CtH: Add a /sarc tag to that “totally unbiased” thing.]

At the bottom, he has a note for the starred word liberal:

*One quick note for all you whiny No-Labels types. I’m going to use the word LIBERAL to describe liberals acting like liberals. You’ll live. Obviously, not all liberals are in favor of squashing dissenting opinions or disallowing someone from holding personal religious beliefs, but everybody trying to squash dissenting beliefs about today’s topic is either a liberal, statist, communist, socialist, or just being a dick. So yes I know that YOU personally are a special snowflake different from said stereotype, but I’m too lazy to keep typing that out, and to use some helpful stereotypes to explain, I’m a greedy, right-wing capitalist 1%er who needs to get back to work writing more bestselling novels that promote violence against the differently-living. Save the hate mail. It gets really repetitive. And when I use the term “caring liberal” it is for the special ones who keep threatening to murder me, because irony amuses me.

So, about these deep thinkers who have opinions about what they haven’t actually read … let’s be real clear that the quote/unquote totally unbiased GQ reporter is a Pansy Leftard. I mean … his FIRST point was about the “huge” crossbow Phil had “cocked and loaded, just in case a deer stumbles in front of us and we need to do a redneck drive-by on the poor bastard, but the safety is on. SAFETY FIRST.”

In amongst that “OMG where is gun control when you need it” introduction, Pansy Man also mentions the unused seat belts in their vehicle, the fly in Phil’s beard, and how “Phil is telling me all about the land around us and how the animals are a glorious gift from God and how blowing their heads off is part of His plan for us.”

Then he goes on to explain that “Phil calls himself a Bible-thumper, and holy shit, he thumps that Bible hard enough to ring the bell at a county-fair test of strength.

I include these quotations in order to give context to the rest of the article, which allegedly contains such steaming piles of HOMOPHOBIA that as soon as GLAAD members awoke from their swoons, they immediately tweeted their outrage to A&E demanding the removal of this horrible man they have never met from a television show they have never watched.

In the article, Phil Robertson says he believes that homosexuality is a sin.

Were Leftards expecting something different from this out-spoken Christian? Good grief.

I admit I was surprised by the Yahoo TV author’s claim about “racially-charged” remarks, so I went back and looked at the interview again. All I could find was a Phil quote:

“I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once. Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I’m with the blacks, because we’re white trash. We’re going across the field…. They’re singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, ‘I tell you what: These doggone white people’—not a word!… Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.”

So he worked side by side with blacks who weren’t bitter. Right. I can totally see the RAAAAAAAAAAACISM in that. Or rather, I could if I were a Leftard. But I digress.

The GQ interview also mentioned that Phil has a biracial grandson who is named for his adoptive dad, Will. Do RAAAAAAAACISTS adopt biracial kids? And if they do, do they then give them the primo paternal moniker? I think not.

But what the hey. Leftards are not called tards for nothing, know what I’m saying? Speaking of which, here’s another prime quote from the ass who interviewed Phil for GQ:

“For what it’s worth—and since I actually looked it up—the violent-crime rate here in America has plummeted since 1990, even as church attendance has stayed the same. And, of course, Phil is conveniently ignoring centuries upon centuries of war, bloodshed, and human enslavement committed in the name of Christ. But I doubt any of that would sway Phil. And anyway, I’m a guest in his house and he is my welcoming host, so I smile politely and nod like the milquetoast suburban WASP that I am. If you can’t reconcile some of the things Phil says with his otherwise friendly demeanor—perhaps because you are gay, or a duck—I don’t blame you. And I don’t blame Duck Dynasty for keeping the show safely apolitical, ensuring smooth digestion for a mass audience.”

Could he be any MORE condescending? Is adding some self-deprecating remarks supposed to make his raging Redneckist Christianophobia palatable? What. A. Jerk.

So, yeah, Phil said (shockeroo), the Bible says homosexuality is a sin and Phil believes it. He also said,

“We never, ever judge someone on who’s going to heaven, hell. That’s the Almighty’s job. We just love ’em, give ’em the good news about Jesus—whether they’re homosexuals, drunks, terrorists. We let God sort ’em out later, you see what I’m saying?”

Racist homophobe? ::snort:: I don’t think so. And fershure, Phil is a lot less judgmental than Pansy Man and the “Fire Phil-istines.”

I’ve often suspected that what A&E originally intended is not what they got. Pat Archbold wrote:

The whole idea of the show was to parade these nouveau riche Christian hillbillies around so that we could laugh at them. … When the producers saw the way the show was shaping up, different than they envisioned it, they tried to change course.

They tried to get the Robertson’s to tone down their Christianity, but to their eternal credit they refused. They tried to add fake cussin’ to the show by inserting bleeps where no cussword was uttered. At best, they wanted to make the Robertson’s look like crass buffoons. At worst they wanted them to look like hypocrites.

They desperately wanted us to laugh at the Robertsons. Instead, we loved them. … A&E had a conundrum. They knew who the Robertsons were and what they believe and they still held it in disdain. But they really liked the money. Really liked the money. So they lived with it. But the progressives whose bank accounts were not growing fatter because of these backward rubes were never inclined to look the other way.

They hate the show and they really hate the response to the show. They want it destroyed. Many magazines and interviewers have tried to get the Robertsons to trip up so they could pounce. When Phil backed the Christian viewpoint on homosexuality and added some personal asides about how he just couldn’t understand it, they had their moment.

But you know what? God had a plan too. And my guess is that the plan included this controversy which, from my reading, is costing the Left some support, because there really are liberals out there who are not Leftards, who believe in goofy things like not punishing people for saying stuff right out loud.

As for A&E, UK’s Daily Mail reports that the network is planning to air the umpteen episodes of Duck Dynasty they’ve already shot … episodes with Phil in them. And maybe by the next season, they’ll just keep on filming and making money while the anti-Christian H8Rs shift their sights to new targets.

An Open Letter to GLAAD

Angela hits it out of the park … again. She’s good at that. 🙂

An Open Letter to GLAAD By angelaisms     – Dec 23, 2013

Dear GLAAD,

In the spirit of the generosity that marks this particular time of year, I have a message for you:

Get over yourselves.

I’ve not been one of the people who has been fully immersed in this Phil Robertson brouhaha, but I’ve still managed to get the gist of things — he called your (and many others’) actions sinful in a public interview.

Well, boo-frickin’-hoo.

I am a member of the only (thank goodness!) church in United States history that has ever had a government-approved kill order out for its members. I have ancestors that, as members of that church, eventually fled the United States for the Mexican territory because, ultimately, their only other option was to get killed by a mob. …

EXCERPT: Radicalized Gay Bigotry and Weekend Links by Kate on December 22, 2013

What more can really be said about the “tolerant” left’s intolerance of mainstream Christian beliefs? The firestorm over Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson’s homosexuality comments is just the latest insult. Saying that homosexuality is a sin rests within Christianity’s mainstream orthodoxy of religious teaching and is not “hateful” or “hate speech”. (As a side note, thinking people understand the freaks at Westboro Baptist Church are NOT within Christianity’s mainstream orthodoxy.)

Love the sinner. Hate the sin.

December 18, 2013: GQ published its interview with Duck Dynasty patriarch, Phil Robertson.

Everything is blurred on what’s right and what’s wrong… Sin becomes fine. Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.”

Robertson then paraphrased Corinthians from the Bible: “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 – “Do you not know that the unjust will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor boy prostitutes nor sodomites nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God.”

GLAAD (which had crickets to say about Alec Baldwin’s repeated use of homosexual slurs) went ballistic, A&E suspended Phil from appearing on Duck Dynasty, and the internet and twitterverse glowed with controversy.

Amidst all the snarking back and forth, the one thing I find most glaringly MISSING is the concept of “Love the sinner. Hate the sin.” The Left has somehow managed to con a large part of our culture into believing that one cannot do both, that if we name a behavior as sin (in line with the Scriptures), then we must hate the people who do that behavior.

But St. Paul, the author of the letters to the Corinthians also said, “All have sinned and are deprived of the glory of God.” -Romans 3:23. And Phil himself has admitted that he was once a druggie, a drunk and a serial adulterer who neglected his wife and children. That’s part of the message of the Gospel, that we are only saved through faith in Jesus Christ.

Willie’s daughter, Sadie, took the high road:

2013_12 18 Sadie's comment

Classy kid. 🙂 Bet she learned that from PawPaw who said: “We just love ’em, give ’em the good news about Jesus, whether they’re homosexuals, drunks, terrorists … let God sort ’em out.”

Geraldo “I’d spit on Michelle Malkin if I could” Rivera spoke for the not-classy Left: “Suspending Duck Dynasty guy for anti-gay remarks is ridiculous and excessive. It’s like suspending someone on South Park or Sponge Bob.”

Below are some other tweets and comments I thought worth mentioning:

  • Hi @aetv, are you aware the Robertson’s don’t need you? You need them. Good luck digging yourself out of this one.
  • I hope every member of @DuckDynastyAE boycotts & refuses to film.
  • A&E, if any of your shows’ cast members quoted Corinthians 6:9-11 — automatic suspension, too?
  • So the network that airs the series “The Killer Speaks,” which interviews convicted felons, draws the line on Bible quoting?
  • The Christian cleansing of American television continues.
  • Those preaching tolerance are often the most intolerant.
  • What did they think @Duck_Commander would say when questioned about his personal beliefs?
  • That’s precisely why GQ interviewed him and pushed this question. Controversy sells magazines.
  • In the USA, a Christian cannot share his Biblically backed beliefs because it hurts feelings?
  • “The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those that speak it.” – George Orwell
  • God-fearing men don’t care what A&E thinks of them.
  • Quack, quack. #StandWithPhil.
  • I love #DuckDynasty. A show without bad language and sex scenes? They honor the Bible and God too? Oh the nerve in today’s society. Bad bad.
  • People who do watch “Duck Dynasty” will be more inclined to punish A&E for this move. Knee-jerkery rarely ends well.
  • I disagree w/ Phil Robertson on gay issues but this is the left trying to silence those they don’t agree with, again. @BoycottAETV
  • #StandWithPhil – whether you agree with him or not – because someday it will be YOUR beliefs that are punished/silenced.
  • Diversity at @AETV only goes one way. As long as Phil is gone, so are we.
  • Something tells me Miss Kay won’t be doing the show without Phil.
  • AETV had a “DuckDynasty Quackback Marathon” last night. I guess their “outrage” is selective.
  • All they care about are ratings. Most likely, they’re high-fiving each other over all this free publicity.

In other news, MSNBC (whose twitter feed gave a thumb’s up to Phil’s suspension) announced that their very own Al “you a punk faggot” Sharpton has scored an interview with FLOTUS.

Cuz in Leftie Land, it doesn’t matter if you are an adulterer, a homophobe, a racist hate-monger, a rich tax dodger who doesn’t pay his fair share to the tune of multiple millions, a serial slanderer who accuses others unjustly of rape and murder, a mob money launderer and/or a cocaine dealer … if you keep your sheeple base donating and voting Democrat, then you are A-OK.

Meanwhile, Piers “Musket” Morgan opined that “The 1st Amendment shouldn’t protect vile bigots.”

Cuz … yeah. It makes SO much sense that the Founders felt that POPULAR speech really needed protection. ::eyesrolling:: Plus, you know, vile bigotry is in the eyes of the beholder.

Two Loyal Lefties who did NOT get canned for statements I find vile and bigoted:

  • Samuel L. Jackson (Capital One): The Tea Party “is not economics. It all boils down to pretty much to race.”
  • James E. Jones (Sprint): “I think I figured out the Tea Party. I think I … I do understand racism.”

But hey … in Lefty Land, calling huge numbers of Americans “racists” is known as “speaking truth to power.” Not, you know, like QUOTING THE BIBLE which is like totes hateful … unless it’s a part you’ve taken out of context to support some Leftist agenda, in which case, it’s the Holy Book and so there, smack.

Oh and Piers also tweeted that Phil is a RAAAAAAAAAAAAAACIST, which I’m so sure totally explains why his son adopted a biracial baby who appears to be not only healthy and well-loved by the entire clan, but was also named after his adoptive father.

When tweeters objected to Morgan’s slander, Piers (who is not a U.S. citizen) claimed “his” First Amendment right to speak his opinion. Pot meet kettle. ::eyesgettingsorefromrolling::

THE DUCK DYNASTY DRAMA CONTINUES

Posted by Pistol Pete

Modem pooped out Monday and I was almost 3 days without a phone or internet access. I’ve had no small amount of drama in that time, but I believe it’s getting better. I was going to post an article about Phil and Jase Robertson from DD snubbing Baba Wawa for her ‘most interesting people of the year’ extravaganza. DW watched last night and she did speak to Si,Willie,Jep,Miss Kay and the wives. Phil and Jase skipped the show to go hunting. Miss Kay said she prayed she didn’t die between November and February because Phil wouldn’t come to the funeral.

Note:I heard on the radio this morning that her ‘most interesting person of the year was….wait for it….TA DA! Cankles Klintoon, the Beastess of Benghazi.Who else would she pick?

Duck Dynasty Star Ducks Barbara Walters Interview–to Go Hunting

‘Duck Dynasty’ Family Clears Up Why Two Stars Are Accused of Having ‘Snubbed’ Barbara Walters

I really wish at times like these I had Chrissy’s skills, but I’ll do the best I can.

GQ got an interview with Phil and,of course, had to goad him about his views on homosexuality.

“It seems like, to me, a vagina – as a man – would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me,” Robertson stated. “I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

Robertson described in the interview how sin is becoming acceptable in America and that the country needs to turn back to its Christian values.

“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,” Robertson told GQ. “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

Of course, the left went apoplectic and screamed at the A&E network, which quickly suspended the patriarch.

The leftards are famous for being tolerant of anyone’s views as long as they agree with them.

‘Duck Dynasty’ Dad Suspended Following Anti-Gay Remarks

On Wednesday afternoon, A&E, the cable network which airs “Duck Dynasty,” suspended Phil Robertson indefinitely from filming, issuing the following statement: “We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series ‘Duck Dynasty.’ His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely.”

GLAAD issued the following statement in response to A&E’s decision, attributed to GLAAD spokesperson Wilson Cruz: “What’s clear is that such hateful anti-gay comments are unacceptable to fans, viewers, and networks alike. By taking quick action and removing Robertson from future filming, A&E has sent a strong message that discrimination is neither a Christian nor an American value.”

Pardon me while I throw up a little.

Christianity on trial in Duck Dynasty controversy

First of all, Robertson spoke of homosexual behavior – i.e., acts. He took care not to characterize homosexuality per se as sinful. This is quite consistent with Christian doctrine of loving the sinner while hating the sin. That crucial point obviously eludes The Hollywood Reporter. But there is a second serious distortion in the Hollywood Reporter summation:

The only comparison involved was that both are sins. As is adultery, as is swindling and a number of other sins mentioned by Robertson. THR might as well have stated “Roberson compared homosexuality to adultery,” but that would not have sparked the same level of outrage. And the goal here is to generate outrage, so as to make expression of disapproval of homosexual acts an absolute taboo.

‘Duck Dynasty’ vs. ‘Pajama Boy’: Two Americas?

Much of the criticism coming from conservatives (regarding A&E’s decision) has focused on the fact that a). Robertson was merely stating an orthodox Christian position, and b). that this is just his opinion — and he’s entitled to it (and besides, why are people so offended these days?).

But I’ll make another observation: This may be an attack on “unsophisticated” country folks as much as it is an attack on orthodox Christianity.

When you consider the more effete, cosmopolitan America that “Pajama Boy” represents, you’ll get a sense for why the Duck Dynasty folks are out of touch with today’s acceptable norms. There is a huge schism between red state America and blue state America, and these two stories seem to symbolize the yawning chasm.

What the left will never, ever understand is they could take everything away from Phil they possibly could, and he’d still be content with his family, his faith, and his shotgun. I cannot imagine a stupid network messing with the hottest show that’s ever been on cable to placate some pillow-biters and rose-sniffers. But that’s just me…and about 12 million other fans of the show. Again,my apologies for not having the skill to do some cool graphics, but it is what it is.
